Athol Police Log: July 14-15

Sunday, July 14

2:30 a.m. — Caller reporting loud radio coming out of a gray pickup truck in the driveway, Sanders Street. Area checked, tranquil on arrival.

3:54 a.m. — Party reporting his girlfriend took his car without permission, Ridge Avenue. Unable to give plate number and refused to give name. Officer spoke with party who said she got into a heated verbal argument with boyfriend. She left the house in her vehicle. Officer confirmed vehicle is registered to her. Unable to make contact with the reporting party. No action taken.

8:44 a.m. — White Pond Road caller reporting her cockatiel got out of the house.

11:13 a.m. — Traffic jam, Main Street. Estimated 80 motorcycles going through town for benefit. Officer assisting.

11:30 a.m. — 911 caller reporting last night female hit her car, Chestnut Hill Avenue. Female is now back with a male party and they are getting in her face. Dispatch received call from other party involved. All parties advised of their rights. Damage on motor vehicles did not match.

11:39 a.m. — Assisted Dept. of Children and Families in going to Central Street residence.

11:41 a.m. — Walk in to report a missing person not seen since Thursday, Congress Street. Spoke with relatives about concerns for family member. Encouraged to go to court for a 35, and BOLO for welfare.

11:59 a.m. — Party turned in passport found at Alan E. Rich Environmental Park.

12:28 p.m. — White Pond Road caller reported she located the cockatiel in a tree and was hoping the fire department would help her get the bird out of the tree.

2:54 p.m. — Party reporting two vehicles speeding and hanging out the windows at Silver Lake Beach. Officer reporting he is out with the vehicles.

3:20 p.m. — Suspicious activity, South and Jones streets. Party reporting two teenagers inside abandoned building. Officers located two juveniles outside the building near the Millers River. Parties advised this location is off limits and parents of both individuals were called.

3:37 p.m. — Report of a dark blue Ford Fusion with one person inside, Harugari Street. Caller believes they may be selling drugs. Gone on arrival.

4:03 p.m. — Main Street caller states son was located. Officer checking his welfare. Negative contact with individual in apartment given by reporting party.

4:33 p.m. — 911 caller reporting 87-year-old female fell earlier that day and now does not feel well. Ambulance responded to Main Street address.

5:15 p.m. — Suspicious activity, Hapgood Street. Caller reporting her brother is not welcome at the house and was about to get in a vehicle intoxicated, now is walking. Area checked; gone on arrival.

5;23 p.m. — Pequoig Avenue caller reporting female party yelling on porch, possibly intoxicated. Female party placed into protective custody, transported to police station.

6:09 p.m. — Ambulance to Pequoig Avenue for male party possibly intoxicated, with difficulty breathing.

7:08 p.m. — Party reporting a 2005 red Silverado truck with a damaged bumper passed a vehicle on the right almost hitting another vehicle and marked lanes violation, Brookside Road. Gone on arrival; officers will continue to BOLO for vehicle.

7:35 p.m. — Ambulance to Gibson Drive for male having a seizure.

7:41 p.m. — Athol Fire Department requesting a still alarm for black smoke in the area of Sunrise terrace and Goddard Street. 

8 p.m. — Ambulance responded to Lake Street; subject transported to Athol Hospital voluntarily for evaluation.

8:25 p.m. — Pierce Street, accident. A vehicle owned by Sara E. ODonnell, Pierce Street, Athol and a vehicle operated by Dawn P. ODonnell, Pierce Street were involved. Crash report incomplete.

8:59 p.m. — Reporting party calling regarding her 14-year-old son being at her mother’s house who she has not spoken with for over five years, Cottage Street. Officers responded to address; transported juvenile to Athol Hospital for evaluation following speaking with the mother.

9:24 p.m. — Subject to station to report motor vehicle was hit earlier today, Tower Road. Minor damage. Officer to review film regarding incident. Spoke with party and advised actions to take.

10:15 p.m. — 911 caller reporting suspicious activity, South Main Street. Individual laying on grass by the bridge. Subject found walking home; no issues. Sent on way.

10:55 p.m. — Crescent Street party reporting his friend is harassing him. Subjects got into argument; both were sent separate ways. 

11:06 p.m. — Party in lobby requesting to speak with officer regarding his wife confiscating his work truck from him that is in his name, Pinedale Avenue. 

Monday, July 15

12:01 a.m. — Silver Lake Street caller requesting officers for possible domestic, male party intoxicated and hit female. Found verbal argument only. Parties separated and female advised of rights under 209A.

1:52 a.m. — Crescent Street caller reporting intoxicated boyfriend fell and gashed his head. Ambulance responded, officer assisted with patient.

8:30 a.m. — Police department requests ambulance to Lee Street to transport female.

9:15 a.m. — Cottage Street caller states neighbor has let out one of his pit bulls and it was urinating on his lawn again.

9:36 p.m. — Party calling from town hall to report a male party on a motorcycle appears to be “strung out” and should not be driving a motorcycle. Heading toward Exchange Street. Unable to locate. Officer advised motorcycle was gone on arrival; he will be checking the area of White Pond Road.

9:57 a.m. — Ambulance requested for 90-year-old female who has fallen.

10:13 a.m. — Officer in lobby with a party in regard to a Section 35 for a male party.

12:50 p.m. — Party calling to report suspicious activity at Cottage Street residence, possible drug activity. Unfounded, no action taken.

12:58 p.m. — Homeowner from Orange Street in station to report she is having a party Saturday and her neighbor has a no trespass order in place against her so she cannot inform her. States she expects the neighbor will complain and wanted it on record.

1:11 p.m. — Ambulance requested to Gibson Drive for 64-year-old male who is having an active seizure.

1:43 p.m. — Party requesting welfare check on a young boy walking down the road with no shirt or shoes on, Petersham Road. Officer found party heading toward Petersham.

1:50 p.m. — Caller reporting male and female party dumping something into the canal/brook, Sanders Street. Officer made contact with suspects who promptly returned to the canal to remove their trash.

2:36 p.m. — Subject calling from the emergency room to report a patient has left with an IV in his hand. Unfounded, no action taken.

2:58 p.m. — Party in lobby reporting her windshield is smashed and there were a group of boys throwing rocks, Main Street.

3 p.m. — Hangup/misdial 911 call. Called number back and left a message. Party called back and stated there was a canoe on Route 2. State police notified.
