ROYALSTON — The Village gazebo will be the place to be in Royalston this Saturday as the South Village Revitalization Committee sponsors Picnic in the Park from noon to 3 p.m. Families may bring their own picnic lunch or purchase bag lunches from the neighboring Village Store. Music will be provided by Ryan Hood.

The event is being promoted as a chance to socialize with neighbors or, if you’re new to town, to meet new friends. The event will be held rain or shine and six to eight pop-up tents or umbrellas will be provided. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own shelters.

A handicap-accessible comfort station will be available and donations to the “Flush Fund” would be appreciated. Checks can be sent to the RSVRC, c/o Rose Lawrence, 9 Dickey Road, Royalston MA 01368. Donations will also be accepted the day of the event.

Lunches from the Village Store can be preordered by calling 978-249-9798. Offerings include the Yogi Bear Bag (turkey), Boo Boo Bear Bag (ham), Jellystone Bag (tuna), and Ranger Smith Bag (roast beef). A veggie sandwich, the Cindy Bear Bag, will also be available. All sandwiches will be served with cheese and lettuce on an 8-inch roll. Preorders should be called in by Friday, although orders will be accepted the day of the event. Bags cost between $8 and $10. Hot dogs and hamburgers will also be available.

Finnish pastries made by LuAnn Similia and Joyce Neale will also be available, as will craft beer from Honest Weight Artisan Beer from Orange.
