Interfaith Committee announces Christmas Eve services in Petersham

PETERSHAM – The following is a chronological list of Christmas Eve services in Petersham.
4 p.m. – First Unitarian Parish, 1 Common St. Rev. John Pastor. Candlelight service with carols, readings and soloists featuring organist Loyall Allen. Collecting non-perishables for food pantry.
4:30-5:10 p.m. – St. Scholastica’s Priory & St. Mary’s Monastery (Benedictine), 271 N. Main St. Vespers – Evening Prayers & Psalms in Latin Gregorian Chant. Jesus’ Birth Proclamation in English.
6 p.m. – St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 18 North St., Father Thien Nguyen. Christmas Eve Mass, a jubilant celebration in honor of the Nativity of Jesus.
8 p.m. – Most Holy Trinity (Maronite), 67 Dugway Road. Christmas Eve Mass. A monastic celebration of the Nativity of Jesus, followed by a reception.
9 p.m. – Orthodox Congregational Church, 21 N. Main St., Rev. Geoffrey Smith. The classic “Carols & Lessons” Christmas Eve service, featuring organist Bob Lemoine and other musicians. Followed by the bell ringing. Collecting non-perishables for food pantry. Check Church Facebook page for Zoom link.
10 p.m. – Orthodox Congregational Church, 21 N. Main St. Christmas Eve Vigil. Candlelight and Christmas light lit sanctuary open for meditation with recordings of “epic” versions of traditional Christmas music. Food pantry donations accepted
10 p.m.-Midnight – St. Scholastica’s Priory & St. Mary’s Monastery, 271 N. Main St. Vigils – Late-night liturgy of Psalms sung in Latin Gregorian Chant and English readings.
