Orange Police Log: Aug. 23-25, 2021

Monday, Aug. 23

6:25 a.m. – Lake Avenue caller reported that their vehicle had been stolen overnight. Reporting party last saw vehicle at 7:30 p.m. Sunday night, and the keys were in the vehicle. Reported that they located the vehicle at the corner of Charles and Putnam Street and would wait for officer. Vehicle was towed and report taken.

4:21 p.m. – Employee from East Main Street business requested police assistance with an unwanted male party with a blue and white umbrella who was standing outside asking people to get him dope.

8:20 p.m. – Athol Road caller reported a tree down that is blocking one lane of the road. Orange Highway Department contacted.

11:15 p.m. – New Athol Road tractor trailer driver requested police assistance. Parked for early morning delivery, a pickup truck parked directly behind them, turned all the lights off and walked around the tractor trailer. Police investigated, but pickup was gone on arrival. Advised driver to call police if any further issues arise.

Tuesday, Aug. 24

9:00 a.m. – Community policing patrol through Town Center.

10:21 a.m. – Police investigated and took report of vandalism at Whitney Street.

11:24 a.m. and 4:24 p.m. – Athol dispatch requested assistance in contacting an individual at Sunset Drive and advise them to contact Athol PD. Both times resulted in no contact made at the door. Later able to make contact with spouse who would relay the message.

7 p.m. – Lobby walk-in to report an assualt with a dangerous weapon in the Daniel Shays Highway area. Incident is under investigation.

Wednesday, Aug. 25

1:44 a.m. – North Main Street traffic stop for failure to use headlights.

3:18 a.m. – Patrol observed an open car door/dome light on in a motor vehicle in the East Main Street area. Confirmed with operator, no issues.

11:19 a.m. – Call of a disturbance near the entrance to the airport. Found to be a verbal argument between father and son and harassment issues. Son had Harassment Prevention order in hand from court. No further action required.

2:18 p.m. – South Main Street caller reported someone had come into the store claiming to have a broken ankle and was then in the restroom a long time and was acting strangely. Subject was identified by police, but declined medical assistance. So, was sent on his way.
