Orange Police Log: March 4-7, 2022

Friday, March 4

2:02 a.m. – Patrol officers heard audible alarm sounding at New Athol Road Tractor Supply. Checked building and all was found to be secure.

7:52 a.m. – East River Street caller requested assistance with their 16-year-old daughter who was very upset due to WiFi being turned off. Reporting party implied that she might punch a hole in the wall again as she had done the previous day. Police spoke with the young female, who was having a hard time dealing with school and a baby, about available options and to call with any additional questions.

10:38 a.m. – Daniel Shays Highway caller requested Police assistance to have a customer removed. Customer was advised that his check out was at 11 a.m. and that he had to be out by 11:30 a.m. or he could be trespassed from the location and arrested. Subject became extremely upset, and stated that he would begin to pack his things. Police were brought back at 11:05 a.m. where subject admitted to being concerned for their own well being. Transported to AMH, but subject was advised that they could not stay another night there after hospital stay.

4:59 p.m. – East River Street caller reported that she was getting calls on her landline from people offering to give her free money. Police advised her that it sounded like a scam. Reporting party did not give the individuals any personal information. Police advised her to block the phone number.

6:42 p.m. – Daniel Shays Highway caller requested Police assistance with a party whom they had a Restraining Order on but it had lapsed. Police located the female party inside of Honey Farms. She was advised of the complaint and agreed to leave the reporting party alone.

Saturday, March 5

1:19 a.m. – Traffic stop at East Main Street resulted in an arrest for operating a vehicle with a suspended license, providing a false name and possession of a Class B substance.

6:11 a.m. – Clerk at Daniel Shays Highway Sunoco requested a welfare check on the occupant of a white Hyundai SUV that had been parked and running by the side of the building for a while. Occupant was sleeping and sent on their way.

3:44 p.m. – Lobby walk-in, parties to speak with an officer about trespass issues. They are in the process of evicting subject as he has been using electric cords to utilize the reporting parties electricity from the basement. The owner had put a lock on the basement door, and was requesting subject be served a No Trespass notice for her side of the building. Due to the constant issues Police will make attempts to serve the trespass paperwork.

10:05 p.m. – Caller from Main Street reported there was a cow in the road. Owner advised.

Sunday, March 6

3:44 p.m. – Water Street traffic stop for failure to inspect. Passenger found to have an active warrant out of the Orange District Court. Placed under arrest without incident.

3:49 p.m. – East Main Street traffic stop for texting and driving and speeding.

Monday, March 7

5:56 a.m. – Daniel Shays Highway caller reported that it appeared that someone had broken into his room while he was away. His belongings were all moved around and was not sure if anything was taken. Reporting party needed to leave for work, but will follow up with Police later to confirm if anything was taken.

11:45 a.m. – Call from South Main Street student who reported that her vehicle had been struck that morning by another vehicle that was attempting to park at 7:36 a.m. She stated that there were some scratches on front passenger side quarter panel. Reporting party will follow up with parents but wanted incident on record.

1:59 p.m. – In the Lower Holtshire Road area, a Patrol Officer was flagged down by a motorist who noticed there had been a vehicle parked on Lower Holtshire Road for about 6 hours and someone was inside. Police found it was someone cooling down after arguing with his girlfriend.

3:20 p.m. – Lobby walk-in to the station requested to speak with an officer about ongoing issues with her neighbors. She explained that they were revving their vehicles engines and blowing an air-horn at inappropriate times. Police advised the reporting party to call with the noise complaints as they are occurring. The process for filing for a criminal harassment order was also explained.

9:20 to 11:35 p.m. – Several reports of power outages/alarm activations at Warwick Road, Water Street, Court Square, and New Athol Road due to severe storm moving through the area.
