Orange Police Logs: June 9-10, 2021

Wednesday, June 9

2:18 p.m. – Caller reported being “rear ended” on South Main Street near the Butterworth School; no injuries, smoke or leaking fluids. Oversaw information exchange and extent of damage believed to be under $1,000.

4:44 p.m. – North Main Street caller reported one of their children’s friends was looking to stay with friends and not return home. They had been out walking for several hours and had a blistering sunburn. Officer mediated situation and juvenile was transported back home and left with family.

5:32 p.m. – Motor vehicle complaint from the Eagleville Road area with one party claiming another party drove in their yard and tried to hit him with the vehicle. Reporting party tried to engage by following the other vehicle even though advised by police not to do so. Both parties were found in the West River Street area and provided conflicting accounts of what happened. Both parties were told to stay away from each other and agreed to do so.

8:14 p.m. – Eagleville Road caller requested assistance with an ongoing issue and is now getting threatening text messages from the other party’s friends about incident earlier. Advised not to respond and contact police again if anything escalates. Reporting party also requested additional patrols of boat ramp and dead end section of Eagleville Road.

Thursday, June 10

12:46 a.m. – Traffic stop for failure to stop for red light.

1:53 a.m. – Traffic stop for Moped operator not wearing a helmet revealed operator’s license had been suspended and vehicle was towed by Jim’s Auto.

8:50 a.m. – East River Street fire alarm. Patrol responded and stayed on scene until OFD cleared the scene.

10:25 a.m. – East River Street caller reported a possible trespass incident which was caught on camera. Unknown party came on the property and accused reporting party’s spouse in a threatening manner of driving too fast. But the spouse stated there were no apparent issues while driving.

11:55 a.m. – East River Street caller requested assistance with a shed break in. Officer advised reporting party to contact security company for camera footage, which they declined to pursue. Report taken by officer.

1:19 p.m. – New Athol Road caller requested assistance with removing her property from their residence. Locks had been changed and it was being disputed whether family should have access or not. All parties were advised that it was a civil matter and to seek relief with the court.

2:44 p.m. – East River Street caller reported ongoing scam attempt by person claiming to be raising money for the National Police Association. The reporting party, who was not able to identify the number the call came from, was advised that this was a scam and to report any further occurrences.

3:04 p.m. – Patrol took a report at Chase Street of theft of personal property and a missing vehicle from reporting party who had previously been away. Identified possible suspect and report taken.

5:28 p.m. – Airport Street incident of a possible “chute not opening” was reported, but later verified with Jumptown that all were present and accounted for from previous jump.

5:52 p.m. – Locke’s Village Road caller advised that a tree limb came down on a wire and was smoking. Eversource contacted and officer assisted with traffic control.
