Orange Police Log: Sept. 1, 2020

Tuesday, Sept. 1

12:19 a.m. — Burglar alarm, West River Street. Officers responded and checked the building. Found to be secure.

3:00 a.m. — Fire alarm activation, South Main Street. No smoke or fire reported. Assisted FD on scene.

5:28 a.m. — Disabled motor vehicle, East River Street. Vehicle located and determined to be a hazard. Jim’s requested and responded to tow the vehicle.

8:14 a.m. — Disturbance, West Main Street. Neighbor reports fighting, yelling and running going on, she advises she has had to call several times. Another party reporting same incident. On arrival, all was quiet.

8:51 a.m. — Party to the station with concerns over subject having her elderly grandmother watch their child while she is off doing her own thing, East River Street. The reporting party was advised of court and DCF options as well as speaking with an attorney.

10:40 a.m. — Trespass, Daniel Shays Highway. Spoke with the reporting party who received a call from his employee reporting that subject was on the property and he does not want him there. Spoke with reporting party regarding trespass notice and he will be sending one certified mail. Process explained.

12:09 p.m. — Vandalism, Central Cemetery. Party advises that there is more graffiti in Central Cemetery. Top section towards the old entrance off of Mechanic Street. Kids tagged a headstone with the “F word” in green paint. Requesting cruisers take a run through there when they have a chance during their patrol.

1:37 p.m. — Caller reports a tractor trailer unit just hit the traffic light on the corner by Trail Head and left headed east. It is a white truck and trailer. Trailer says “Premier” on the side. Appears to be just minor damage to the light. Stopped the truck on East Main Street and operator was not aware he hit the lights. Information obtained and message left for the Highway Department to check the light for damage.

2:10 p.m. — Harassment, East River Street. Reporting party came to the station regarding ongoing issues he is having with his neighbor. Spoke with the reporting party regarding the situation and of 258E options. The reporting party will be applying for a 258E order.

2:15 p.m. — Female party into the station reporting fraud, Walnut Hill Road. Report taken.

6:44 p.m. — Officer attempted to make contact with subject for Gardner PD, East River Street. Negative contact.

7:58 p.m. — Officer wanted, East River Street. Party advises a couple of minutes ago while she and her brother were at the play structure, a male party (on his own property) was taking pictures of them. Reporting party advised when she went to go get her father, her brother stayed outside on the bench and her brother said the male party came back with a gun. Officers responded and spoke with all parties involved. The male party taking pictures of the reporting party was doing so because they were utilizing the play structure after sundown, which violates a policy set by King Pines management. He intends on showing management the pictures to identify the individuals that are violating the policy. The reporting party had a stick when confronting the male party for taking the pictures. The male party taking the pictures admits to retrieving a baseball bat from his residence but not a firearm. The reporting party’s brother was the only one that allegedly saw a long gun, but was unable to provide a description of it. A discussion was had with the reporting party and the male party taking the pictures of how the situation could have been handled differently. All parties agreed and peace was restored.

8:01 p.m. — Disturbance, Howe Street. Party requesting an officer regarding her tenant who is intoxicated and is yelling at the reporting party while she was sitting in the backyard. Officers responded and spoke with all involved parties. The reporting party wanted it on record that one of their tenants was yelling at them and creating a disturbance while they were outside, in back of the residence. The reporting party was advised of the process for obtaining a criminal harassment order. When officers spoke with the other party involved she alleged the reporting party was the one causing the problem.
