Orange Police Log: June 22-23, 2021

Tuesday, June 22

12:05 a.m. – Alarm company for a Dexter Street establishment spoke to the key holder who asked that police investigate. Police checked the premises and found one door ajar, no other issues.

12:09 a.m. – East River Street caller reported that there were some people there attempting to take the dog. Police spoke to both involved parties, who were no longer in a relationship, about the dispute over ownership of the dog. Options were discussed with both, and the matter determined to be a civil in nature.

2:34 p.m. – Pleasant Street area caller reported a scam where “America’s Police Department” was requesting money. Report taken by officer.

3:15 to 3:40 p.m. – Five traffic stops for speeding in the East River Street and Brookside Drive areas.

4:00 p.m. – East Main Street caller reported they gave some of their personal information out to what they believe was a phone call scam. Reporting party advised to contact the District Attorney’s office, Social Security Administration and change any bank/credit card information.

4:52 to 6:26 p.m. – Seven traffic stops for speeding in the East and West River streets area.

7:01 p.m. – A traffic stop on Daniel Shays Highway for failure to have vehicle inspected resulted in the discovery that operator/driver had a suspended license.

11:55 p.m. – Mechanic Street traffic stop for driving with a suspended license. Citation issued and vehicle parked legally.

Wednesday, June 23

12:09 a.m. – West Main Street area caller requested assistance to have a possibly intoxicated, unwanted person removed from outside their residence. State Police assisted.

1:59 a.m. – Patrol detail in the area of the bandstand sent three parties on their way.

3:40 a.m. – An apparently cold, intoxicated homeless individual entered the Orange Fire Department on Water Street and was transported to the hospital by OFD for treatment.

7;20 a.m. – Lobby walk-in checked to see if anyone had found an olive-colored wallet which they think they lost somewhere near the old Big G’s. Reporting party was advised they would be called if turned in.

7:39 to 8:41 a.m. – Five traffic stops for speeding in the West and East River streets area.

10:48 a.m. – Rosemont Avenue caller reported what appeared to be a suspicious vehicle. Caller knocked on glass to see if driver OK and they would not respond. Found to be a livery driver waiting to pick up their ride.
