Orange Police Log: June 19-21, 2021

Saturday, June 19

2:17 a.m. – Chase Street caller requested officer assistance with what was believed to be a stolen vehicle being returned, but with only one set of keys. Upon arrival at the scene, party confirmed that vehicle was in good condition and they may know where the other set of keys are.

3:18 a.m. – Patrol West Main Street area and located case of illegal dumping at 3:22 a.m. in the Wheeler Avenue area.

6:00 a.m. – East Main Street area caller believed they saw a male walking near Walmart, headed to the center of town, carrying what appeared to be a rifle. Officer confirmed person was carrying a BB gun and headed home.

6:36 a.m. – West River Street traffic stop for speeding resulted in the arrest of operator being under the influence, speeding and failure to stop for police.

11:24 a.m. – Community policing in Holtshire Road area/beach patrol.

12:44 p.m. – East Main Street establishment requested police assistance with someone, who previously had been trespassed from the store, was now inside the store. It was determined the trespass notice was still in effect and subject was going to speak with store management about getting it lifted.

3:07 to 4:19 p.m. – Nine traffic stops for speeding in the East River Street area. Three additional traffic stops for speeding occurred in same general vicinity from 4:32 to 4:47 p.m.

6:55 p.m. – Wheeler Avenue caller reported an SUV had just crashed into their garage. There were no injuries, smoke or fluids leaking. Dale’s towed the vehicle from the scene.

7:48 p.m. – East Main Street caller requested officer assistance because they had locked themselves out of their vehicle, which was still running. Entry gained.

9:10 p.m. – Community policing – town center.

Sunday, June 20

7:52 a.m. – South Main Street, Community policing.

11:31 a.m. – West River Street caller reported their stepson had been missing since the previous afternoon and speculated they could be somewhere in the Athol, Orange, Fitchburg area(s). Options were discussed with the reporting party, who later reported a possible sighting of the subject in Athol. But, the subject ran away upon seeing them. Reporting party was advised to contact Athol PD, and contact Orange PD if anything changes.

1:42 p.m. – Beach patrol Holtshire Road.

2:54 p.m. – Lobby walk-in with wallet found in the area of the White Cloud Diner.

5:48 p.m. – Officer assistance requested at East River Street for a possible breaking and entering. Property was checked and police made contact with the manager. Property maintenance personnel scheduled to ensure property is secured properly.

9:23 p.m. – Patrol officer reported an illegal dumping situation in the Route 78 area.

Monday, June 21

7:56 a.m. – Motor vehicle accident on West Orange Road when one driver stopped as a deer was crossing and was rear-ended by another motorist. One passenger was taken to the hospital, other involved parties declined assistance.

10:28 a.m. – East Main Street traffic stop for an unregistered vehicle. Plates seized.

1:32 p.m. – Prospect Street caller reported what appeared to be a break in and itemized missing items for the police. Report taken.

2:44 p.m. – West Main Street caller requested assistance with a possible disturbance. Officers were able to mediate the situation with all involved parties.

3:43 p.m. – Caller from Memorial Park area reported that this morning his worker found someone sleeping in the dugout. Individual was moved out of the park twice. Then, in the afternoon, when a worker showed up to landscape, same individual started throwing nip bottles at them and the caller wanted these incidents on record.

4:22 p.m. – North Main Street traffic stop for failure to stop/yield resulted in an arrest for a revoked license, failure to stop for police and operating a motor vehicle with a subsequent offense.

10:30 p.m. – Patrol office in East River Street area observed road rage incident and issued warning.
