Orange Police Log: Aug. 18-19, 2021

Wednesday, Aug. 18

12:09 a.m. – West Main Street caller reported that a coworker’s vehicle had been broken into. Appeared to be a rock was thrown through the driver’s side window and the rock was on the driver’s seat along with glass fragments. A pack of cigarettes was stolen.

1:36 a.m. – Patrol officer in East Myrtle Street area noticed a white van with back doors open and windows rolled down. No valuables, nor keys could be seen. Attempted to contact owner.

9:24 a.m. – Orange Road and Garage Road area of Warwick reported red Chevy pickup went off the road, no injuries reported The rear left tire appeared to be dangling over a deep culvert. Requested fire and EMS assistance due to airbag deployment and fluids leaking. Police provided courtesy transport and Arsenault’s enroute to tow vehicle.

10:28 a.m. – Putnam Street area caller reported damage to the property they are in the process of selling, and is concerned of possible further occurrences. Advised of options.

1:49 p.m. – Memory Lane caller reported their house had been broken into on Monday, and all their belongings were missing. Officer advised they provide a list of all missing items to police. Reporting party said they would be staying elsewhere.

4:31 p.m. – Caller from Beacon Street area reported harassment by a stepparent of both themselves and their mother. The situation was mediated by the police and all parties were advised of options.

6:25 p.m. – Officers responded to Drew Boulevard area to keep the peace as a male party tried to pick up his young child. The child wound up staying at the mother’s residence by her request. Advised of options through probate court.

11:15 p.m. – Lobby walk-in with information on a shoplifting incident at 8 p.m. at Walmart

Thursday, Aug. 19

1:54 a.m. – Patrol officer encountered a female party walking in the roadway in the West River Street area of town, who stated she had been looking for her boyfriend and was now on her way home. Advised to use the sidewalk.

5:23 a.m. – Caller from the East Myrtle Street area reported that they had sideswiped a car. There were no injuries and the owner of the parked car was not there. Contact eventually was made with the owner, and damage was over $1,000. Report taken.
