Orange Police Log: Aug. 13-17, 2021

Friday, Aug. 13

3:48 a.m. – Multiple calls for assistance from both Police and Fire Departments for a fully involved structure fire at Lois Street. Neighbors were also evacuated as a precaution. Fire was eventually extinguished and Animal Control contacted for the 10 chickens found alive and one deceased cat on the scene.

Tuesday, Aug. 17

9:00 a.m. – Red Brook Lane caller requested assistance with an ongoing harassment issue. The reporting party caught the latest incident on video. Caller was advised to pursue a Harassment Prevention order through the courts. They were also advised to follow up with the property manager as there is an existing condition that the subject leave the reporting party alone.

9:04 a.m. – Lobby walk-in with a machete found in the Holtshire Road area.

9:22 a.m. – East Main Street caller reported a missing wallet containing rent money and cards. Last seen in the apartment several days earlier and is the only thing missing. Caller does not believe anyone who has been there in the last few days is involved. Advised to contact banks about cards and contact the housing authority about the missing rent money.

2:22 p.m. – Kelton Street caller requested assistance on how to handle a fraud situation (credit card taken out in someone else’s name) by a family member. Officer advised to have the fraud victim file the report and bring the statement of the account in question. Also advised caller to get trespass order on the subject to keep them off the property.

7:29 p.m. – North Main Street traffic stop resulted in the vehicle being towed and operator issued a citation for uninsured and unregisterd motor vehicle.

11:10 p.m. – Lobby walk-in to report past assault in the East River Street area. Incident was originally handled by State Police, but Orange PD took a written statement and pictures of injuries for follow up with the State Police.
