Orange Police Log: March 12

9 a.m. — Report of larceny, Prospect Street. Party reports she recently broke up with her fiance and is now missing a laptop computer that she paid for and a cell phone. Spoke with subject who denied taking the items and said that he paid for the phone. Female advised of options.

10:32 a.m. — Orange Highway Department received a complaint of an untreated sidewalk on Dexter Street.  Found a small area that needed attention. Property owner wasn’t home. Neighbor corrected the problem. Another area is either the school’s responsibility or the highway department’s. Highway superintendent was notified.

12:14 p.m. — Motor vehicle complaint, West Main and Ball streets. Caller states there is a Mini Cooper parked on the sidewalk blocking handicap access. He took a picture of the vehicle and someone came out and had words for him. Officer arrived and issued a parking ticket and explained to owner who came outside.

12:59 p.m. — Vehicle stopped for expired registration sticker, East Main Street. Found to be active and owner will put sticker on. 

1:21 p.m. — Vehicle stopped, for expired registration sticker, East Main Street. Registration found to be active.

2:04 p.m. — Motor vehicle violation, East Main Street. Warning given for failure to inspect.

2:06 p.m. — Animal complaint, Converse Road. Caller reports he has a dead fox on his property. Officer called animal control and was advised by the ACO that he could dispose of it. Caller given options.

4:04 p.m. — Caller reports a dark green SUV driving erratically and passing on the double yellow line and was heading on Partridgeville Road. 

4:49 p.m. — Vehicle stopped for expired inspection sticker, Daniel Shays Highway. Operator didn’t realize it had expired. Warning issued.

4:52 — Motor vehicle complaint, Route 2. A white van was reported by Leominster State Police to be on Route 2 headed west with a revoked plate and there appears to be a child in the back not wearing a seat belt. Both units checked area, no contact.

5:16 p.m. — Officer wanted, West River Street. Caller stated subject moved out a month ago and is threatening to return to the home and cause issues. Caller wanted to know about changing locks. Advised of 209A rights and court options if she is in fear.

5:41 p.m. — Report received of a suspended driver, Daniel Shays Highway. Motorist stated the vehicle had been passing in a no passing zone. Subject stopped as it was backing out of spot at Travel Inn. Operator found to have suspended license. Charged with passing violation and operating with a suspended license.

10:49 p.m. — Minor motor vehicle accident, no injuries, East Main Street. Caller accidentally backed into another car. Very slight damage noted to front plate and both parties advised it would be on record. The two sides were not getting along on arrival or during the interaction while on the scene.

2:52 a.m. — Suspicious person, Memorial Drive. Caller states that a male party came knocking on his door and when party asked him what he wanted, the male replied that he had the wrong address. Caller didn’t open the door. Subject described as a white male, scruffy face, wearing a light gray sweatshirt, jeans and socks with no shoes. Last seen heading across the street. Caller didn’t know if that was his intended destination or if he is still walking around. Area checked, unable to locate anyone.
