Orange Community Band wrapping up season

ORANGE — The Orange Community Band, under the direction of Stephanie Parker, is set to conclude its abbreviated summer season on the bandstand in Butterfield Park on Friday, July 23.

Concerts this year begin at 7 p.m. and last approximately one hour, with no intermission. A special feature of this final concert is the presentation of John R. Tandy Memorial Scholarships to six area students. This is the 19th year the band has presented scholarships to students with a special connection to music.

Some of the selections being considered for Friday’s concert include the Beach Boys, “Sinatra in Concert,” “Frozen,” “Carousel,” “The Lion King,” and “What a Wonderful World.” Each concert begins with the national anthem and includes several marches, as well as pop and show tunes.

Also, on July 30, Marty’s Reminisce Orchestra will perform music from the 1940s, 1950s and more on the Butterfield Park bandstand.

The Orange Community Band plans to resume the spring Pops concert in April, and may play an additional concert in September.
