ATHOL — Nomination papers are available for candidates interested in running for Municipal Office.
The annual town election will be held on Monday, April 4, at the Athol Town Hall. Polls open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
The offices to be elected are as follows:
Moderator (1), 1 year
Selectmen (2), 3 years
Athol-Royalston Regional School Committee from Athol (3), 3 years
Athol-Royalston Regional School Committee from Royalston (1), 3 years
Library Trustee (2), 3 years
Athol Housing Authority (1), 5 years
Constable (1), 3 years
Registered voters who are interested in running for office can obtain nomination papers in the Town Clerk’s office. Office hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Tuesday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Friday – closed. All nomination papers must be returned to the Town Clerk no later than Monday, Feb. 14, by 5 p.m. In order to appear on the ballot, a candidate must obtain 40 signatures of registered voters in Athol for Town Offices and 50 signatures for School Committee.
Incumbents up for re-election are: Moderator, Lawrence P. McLaughlin; Selectmen, Mitchell R. Grosky and Stephen R. Raymond; Athol-Royalston Regional School Committee from Athol, Tammy Duquette, Theodore J. Mallet, III and Kenneth A. Vaidulas; Athol-Royalston Regional School Committee from Royalston, Charles Pretti; Library Trustees, Sharon A. Brighenti and Margaret E. Feldman; and Constable, Kevin Materas.
