NEW SALEM — Registered democrats will hold a caucus on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m. in the Stowell Building on South Main Street to elect delegates and alternates to the 2018 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention.

This year’s state convention will be held June 1 and 2 at the DCU Center in Worcester, where thousands of Democrats from across the state will come together to endorse Democratic candidates for statewide office, including constitutional officers and gubernatorial candidates.

The caucus is open to all registered and pre-registered Democrats in New Salem. Pre-registered Democrats who will be 18 by Sept. 18 will be allowed to participate and run as a delegate or alternate. New Salem can elect two delegates and one alternate to the Convention.

Youth, minorities, people with disabilities and LGBT individuals who are not elected as a delegate or alternate may apply to be an add-on delegate at the caucus or by visiting: www.massdems.org.

Those interested in getting involved with the New Salem Democratic Town Committee should contact Sharon Tracy at 979-544-8822 or Mary-Ann Palmieri at 978-544-2611.
