Mushroom workshop rescheduled

NEW SALEM — An inclement weather forecast postponed MycoTerra Farm’s Grow Your Own Mushrooms workshop slated for Feb. 22 at the New Salem Public library. It has been rescheduled for March 1.

Julia Coffey of Mycoterra Farm will deliver a presentation on mushroom farming starting at 6 p.m.

“Her talk will include an overview of the mushroom life-cycle and the basic ecology of saprophytic fungi,” a press statement about event advertises. “She’ll cover basic DIY mushroom growing techniques using a variety of species of mushroom growing kits and an in-depth introduction into mushroom log culturing.”

There’s a suggested donation of $10 to $20 at the door. Mushroom kits will be available to purchase there. The event is sponsored by the New Salem Agricultural Commission.
