Makai Mason is on the move.

According to multiple European media outlets, the Greenfield native has agreed to a deal with Spanish basketball club BAXI Manresa. The team plays in Liga ACB, the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system.

The 25-year-old made his professional basketball debut this past season playing for German club ALBA Berlin. He averaged 6.3 points and 1.1 assists per game in 38 total contests. Mason returned to the U.S. when German’s domestic BBL League shut down in March due to COVID-19, and he never returned despite the league restarting last month. ALBA Berlin went on to win the league title.

ALBA Berlin announced Mason’s departure in a press release on its website, saying he made use of an exit option in his contract.

“Makai Mason joined ALBA Berlin from Baylor University in the summer of 2019 after four NCAA seasons,” the release read. “The 25-year-old guard, who has both a German and an American passport, scored an average of 3.9 points and 0.8 assists in the easyCredit BBL and 6.3 points in a total of 38 ALBA games in his first professional season and 1.1 assists in the EuroLeague.”

Manresa plays its home games at the 5,000-seat Pavelló Nou Congost. The club, which finished 13th in the 18-team Liga ACB this past season, is coached by Pedro Martínez. Former Northestern University forward Scott Eatherton is also on the roster.

Mason, who began his collegiate career at Yale and graduated before continuing on as a graduate transfer at Baylor, is represented by BeoBasket.
