One local high school team remains in the postseason and it faces a trip to Berkshire County to stay alive.

The sixth-seeded Mahar girls volleyball team will play No. 3 Mount Greylock, Monday in Williamstown in the quarterfinals of the Western Massachusetts Division 3 Tournament.

The Senators (16-5) lost last season to the Mounties (14-3) in the first round in Orange. The two teams did not play during the regular season.

After Friday’s first-round win over Southwick, Mahar coach Sarah Woodward stressed that getting their early will be important.

“We will take our time to warm up,” Woodward said. “We need to get situated.”

Aria Flematti and Ava Santana were dealing with illnesses on Friday night against the Rams.

“We practiced yesterday and everyone was good,” Woodward said. “We plan on being 100 percent.”

Mount Greylock (14-3) was the Berkshire North league champion this season and has wins over Lee and Amherst Regional. Caroline Hadley has 70 kills for the Mounties, while Maddison Albert 61 aces and 162 assists.

“They have some strong hitters and they beat Lee which is impressive,” Woodward said. “We are going in confident.”
