Frost, Shaw set new marks

ORANGE — Mahar Regional’s Hugo Frost broke the school’s pentathalon record, scoring 2,805 points during the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association’s boys Pentathalon, Wednesday in Boston.

Ash Shaw broke the school record in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 46.27 seconds.

Frost placed 27th in the event, while Shaw placed 30th with 2,774 points. Aaron Hendry placed 61st with 2,349 points. There were 108 athletes in the event, held at the Reggie Lewis Center.

All participants competed in the 55-meter hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put and 1,000.

Frost completed the 55 hurdles in 9.01 seconds. He jumped 5 feet 1.75 inches in the high jump and 18-8 in the long jump. He threw the shot put 35-3 and ran the 1,000 in 2:55.61. Frost scored 605 points in the hurdles, 441 in the high jump, 521 in the long jump, 530 in the shot put and 708 in the 1,000.

Shaw completed the 55 hurdles in 9.83. He jumped 6-1.5 in the high jump and 18-5.75 in the long jump. He threw the shot put 24-7.25 and ran the 1,000 in 2:46.27. Shaw earned 437 points in the hurdles, 687 points in the high jump, 508 points in the long jump, 337 points in the shot put and 805 points in the 1,000.

Hendry completed the 55 hurdles in 8.79. He jumped 4-9.75 in the high jump and 18-6.5 in the long jump. He threw the shot put 28 feet and completed the 1,000 in 3:27.86. Hendry earned 655 points in the hurdles, 367 points in the high jump, 512 points in long jump, 398 points in the shot put and 417 points in the 1,000-meter run.
