High schools: Parker leads Mahar girls soccer past Frontier

Delaney Parker had a goal and an assist for the Mahar girls soccer team in a 2-0 road win over Frontier Regional, Friday in South Deerfield.

Mollie Burke scored the other goal for the Senators (1-1) while Tori Tenney added an assist.

Marie Nottleson stopped seven shots in the shutout.

Athol 2, Pope Francis 1 — The Red Raiders got their first win of the season in their home opener against the Cardinals.

Grace Dufour scored twice for Athol (1-1), with Shelby Mailloux assisting on one of the goals.

Hailey Wrigley made five saves.

Field Hockey

Athol 4, Franklin Tech 0 — Ashley Rouleau, Reily Polana, Christa Cucchi and Sam Kenniff all scored in the Red Raiders’ win at home.

Cucchi had two assists for Athol (1-1), with Kassidy Swan adding another.

Ryley Pond stopped two shots.

Holyoke 2, Mahar 1 — Lily Fellows scored from Abby Henne, but the Purple Knights scored the next two to take the win over the Senators (1-1, 0-1 Bi County).
