High schools: Athol volleyball wins second straight

Make that two in a row for the Athol girls volleyball team.

The Red Raiders defeated Greenfield 3-1 at home on Wednesday. Set scores were 25-16, 25-13, 17-25 and 25-21.

Abby Roberts continued to increase her kill total with the program, adding another 10 for Athol.

Alexis Carassquillo had eight kills and three aces, while Lexi Forte played set up with 18 assists.

Avah Cantrell had five aces for Athol (2-12).

Mahar 3, Mohawk 0 — Hailie Meeker’s six kills led the Senators (9-3, 4-0 Northern) in a home win over the Warriors.

Aria Flematti had 16 assists for Mahar.

Jordyn Berry added four kills for the Senators.

Set scores were 25-9, 25-13 and 25-19.

Boys soccer

Mahar 3, Sci-Tech 3 — A day after losing to the Cybercats, the Senators traveled to Springfield and earned a tie after a late goal from Andrew Herk.

Herk’s goal came off a corner kick with under five minutes to play in the game.

James Temple and Riley Drew also scored for Mahar (7-4-2, 4-2-2 McGrath).

Miguel Gomez and Cole Johnson had assists.

Field Hockey

Mahar 2, Holyoke 2 — In a Bi-County League game, the Senators (5-3-1, 2-3-1) settled for a tie at home.

Lilly Fellows had a goal and an assist for Mahar with Anna Wetherbee also scoring.

Bella Marigliano made one save.

Mahar outshot Holyoke 21 to three.
