The Greenfield girls tennis team earned an important win as it looks to secure a spot in the MIAA Div. 4 state tournament. 

On the road at Turners Falls, the Green Wave pulled out wins at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles while also taking No. 2 doubles via forfeit to walk away with a 3-2 victory on Wednesday.

Greenfield improved to 7-6 on the year with the win.

Lizzy Derivolkova came away with a 6-4, 6-0 triumph at No. 3 singles while Lydia Wood and Karinna Kostov teamed for a 6-1, 6-1 victory in No. 1 doubles. 

Turners’ Olivia Wolbach picked up a 6-4, 6-0 win in No. 1 singles while Avery Heathwaite took No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2. 

Boys tennis

Frontier 3, Mount Everett 2 — Jacob Han earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory in No. 1 singles while Robert Fuqua walked away with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph in No. 2 singles, helping the Redhawks knock off the Eagles in South Deerfield Wednesday. 

Oliver Brown and Caiden Manning sealed the Frontier win with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory in No. 1 doubles. 

Baseball

Mohawk Trail 5, Franklin Tech 3 —  The Warriors held a 4-1 lead after four innings and held on late to secure a Bi-County North win over the Eagles in Buckland Wednesday.

Weston den Ouden smashed a pair of hits and drove in two runs while Ty Griswold cracked two hits in the win. Logan Moore and Jackson Lilienthal each singled and drove in a run while Tony Hernandez hit safely for Mohawk Trail. Moore went the distance and struck out nine. 

Tyler Yetter blasted two hits, Gavin Crossman tallied a hit and an RBI while Kyle Begos and Zaydrien Alamed each hit safely for Franklin Tech. 

Hampshire 2, Greenfield 0 — It was a pitchers’ duel at Vets Field on Wednesday between Greenfield’s Michael Pierce and Hampshire’s Will Hogan. 

Pierce went the distance, scattered three hits and struck out eight while Hogan also went the distance, allowing two hits and striking out three. A two-run fourth inning from Hampshire proved to be the difference, with the Raiders picking up a Suburban League West triumph. 

Caleb Thomas and Arthur Fitzpatrick had Greenfield's hits  in the loss. 

Boys volleyball

Frontier 3, Granby 0 — The Redhawks head into the postseason on a high note following a 25-14, 26-24, 25-21 sweep of the Rams at Goodnow Gymnasium Wednesday. 

Aleks Carey put down 18 kills and two aces, Jack Carey recorded 10 kills and three aces, Will Reading tallied four kills while Tavo Vincent Warner dished 34 assists for Frontier.
