HS Roundup: Franklin Tech takes second at Massachusetts State Vocational Golf Tournament

It was an impressive showing at the Massachusetts State Vocational Golf Tournament on Wednesday at Acushnet River Valley Golf Course.
Competing in the small school tournament, the Eagles combined for a four-player score of 313 to take second overall. Upper Cape Cod Tech was the champion with a score of 310.
Jack Day led Franklin Tech with a 75, which placed him second overall on the day. Gabe Mota shot a 77 to take sixth place overall while Braeden Talbot (80) and Grady Deery (81) rounded out the scorers for the Eagles. Will Belval also competed for Tech and shot an 87.
"That's a great showing for us," Franklin Tech coach Mike Duclos said. "I didn't expect the scores I saw. I'm very proud of them. Proud of Braeden and Grady for stepping up today. Gabe and Jack are the backbone of the team as the scores showed."
Longmeadow 138, Frontier 156 — Ryan Cetto carded a 36 in the Redhawks’ loss to the Lancers at Cherry Hill Wednesday.
Cam Skiffington (38), Porter Hall (41) and Jacob Cornelison (41) also scored for Frontier.
Mohawk Trail 172, Turners 215 — Phineas Tuttman was the match medalist with a 39 to lift the Warriors to a win over the Thunder at Country Club of Greenfield Wednesday.
Douglas Wilcox (42), Logan Moore (44) and Conner Bergeron (47) rounded out the scoring for Mohawk Trail while Darian Burnett (47), Cam Cogswell (51), Rowan Deery (58) and Liam Kerivan (59) scored for Turners.

Pioneer 5, Greenfield 0 — Jackson Glazier scored a pair of goals — one in the first half and one on a free kick from 25 yards out in the second half — to propel the Panthers to a Schmid League victory in Northfield Wednesday.
Judah Glenn also scored a goal in each half while Jackson Campbell headed in a goal in the first half for Pioneer. Kurt Redeker, Brody Welcome and Hayden Killeen provided the assists while Gavin Gammell stopped five shots in the winning effort.
Smith Vocational 1, Franklin Tech 0 — Aaron Renaud scored the lone goal of the game for the Vikings, who knocked off the Eagles in Northampton Wednesday.
Athol 1, Franklin Tech 0 — It came down to the wire in Athol on Wednesday.
With the game looking to be heading to a scoreless draw in the final seconds, Bear Aubrey Brokney decided to take a shot 30 yards from goal. The shot had power on it and blasted into the back of the net just before the final whistle was about to blow, lifting Athol to a Bi-County League victory.
Ava Adams made eight saves in the win while Kylee Gamache stopped 13 shots for Franklin Tech.

Frontier 7, Lenox 1 — The Redhawks got going early against the Millionaires, taking a 5-0 lead at the half before cruising to a Moriarty League win Tuesday in South Deerfield.
Max Millette scored twice in the opening 20 minutes, Gus Radner tallied a pair of goals while Ian Paciorek, Sam Bakare and Henry Pleasant also found the back of the net for Frontier.
Carter Miller, Eric Larsson (2) and Radner provided the assists while Jack Cusson made eight saves in the win.
