ATHOL — The November meeting of the Athol Golden Age Club will be held on Monday, Nov. 18 in the Athol Senior Center at noon. This will be the annual Thanksgiving potluck luncheon for which members are asked to bring their favorite main dishes, salads, or desserts. If unable to bring something, a small donation would be appreciated. The business meeting will be held following the lunch.
Those unable to attend this meeting should call Julia Temple at 978-249-9162 for reservations for the Christmas dinner, no later than Monday, Dec. 9. Members may bring a guest to this special celebration.
In addition, members are asked to bring one or two unwrapped toys for children ages 3 to 14 to place in the Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots box Nov. 18. The club intends to bring the toys in a month early this year since the December meeting is after the Marine Corps’ pick-up date. Mark Ellis of the Marine Corp League, Pequiog Detachment 1168, will be the guest speaker, who will talk about the importance of Toys for Tots to the youth of the North Quabbin area.
The Athol Golden Age Club is open to all senior citizens in the North Quabbin, age 55 or over. Its purpose is threefold: to promote “re-creation” through challenging programs, friendship through regular meetings, and leisure activities such as the popular senior bus trips.
