ORANGE — Four Democrats so far have declared their gubernatorial candidacy for the November 2022 election, and all have been invited to the North Quabbin region to meet voters in the next month or so.

Former state Rep. Denise Andrews and Greenfield School Committee member Susan Hollins are readying to welcome Ben Downing, Sonia Chang-Diaz, Danielle Allen and Orlando Silva in the coming weeks with their “Meet & Greet Your Statewide Candidates Series,” though Silva (massachusettsforall.com) has not confirmed his visit.

Downing (benformass.com) is set to stop by Stage on Main, at 17 South Main St. in Orange, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, while Chang-Diaz (soniachangdiaz.com) will visit 110 Grill at 307 Market Drive in Athol at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, and Allen (allenforma.com) ventures to Stage on Main for an event at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7.

Each event will be a meet-and-greet and fundraiser.

Andrews said it’s important for anyone running for statewide office to visit this area and learn what locals’ concerns are.

“Each community’s different and each region’s different,” she said. “So, since I returned (to the area) and then ran for office, it’s been my commitment to get the Democratic candidates out here.

“I’m on the blue team,” Andrews added with a laugh. “And so everyone that is seeking to connect and know, I take time in my life to bring them here, because our citizens deserve an easy chance to meet them. They don’t need to drive to Worcester or Boston, so right here, at home, in the North Quabbin region.”

Attorney General Maura Healey (maurahealey.com) shared at the recent Democratic State Convention that she is seriously considering a run for governor.

Downing is a former state senator for the Berkshire, Hampshire, Franklin and Hampden District. Chang-Diaz represents the 2nd Suffolk District in the state Senate. Allen is a Harvard University professor and Silva started the full-service Pro Air Duct Cleaning in 2005.
