Saturday: Butterflies and Dragonflies on the Millers

ATHOL — Join Dave Small of the Athol Bird and Nature Club for this excursion to look for late summer butterflies and dragonflies along the Millers River: Saturday, Aug. 29, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Conditions permitting, participants will wade in shallow water. Bring insect net, camera, sunscreen, snacks, and water. Pre-register with Small by emailing Dave@dhsmall.net and provide your contact information. Limited to eight people.

Thursdays: Outdoor movie nights

WINCHENDON — Outdoor movie nights take place Thursdays in August, 8 p.m., on the lawn at Beals Memorial Library in Winchendon.

■Tonight: Disney’s “Tangled,” 8 p.m., on the lawn of Beals Memorial Library in Winchendon.

■Thursday, Aug. 27: “The Wizard of Oz,” 8 p.m., on the lawn at Beals Memorial Library in Winchendon.

Aug. 30: Trail walk in Winchendon

The North Quabbin Trails Association has organized a walk Sunday, Aug. 30, at Winchendon Community Park to encourage people of color to use the trails and enjoy the area’s natural resources.

“I’ve always just assumed we welcomed people (of color), but I have to go beyond that in this case,” Bobby Curley, North Quabbin Trails Association president, said.
