The post-Thanksgiving Day winds kicked off opening day of the Massachusetts Shotgun Deer Hunting season on Monday in Franklin County.

Charlemont’s Nicholas Johnston bagged the largest deer reported in the area, as his nine-point buck weighed in at 185 pounds at Gould’s Sugarhouse in Shelburne Falls. Northfield’s Dylan Fisher was right behind with an 183-pound buck checked at Bitzer Hatchery in Montague.

Here’s a list of the deer reported to the Recorder from Day 1 of the season.
