Bulletin board: Jackson Caron finishes first at Northfield Summer Road Race

Jackson Caron won the weekly Northfield Summer Road Race, completing the three-mile course in 18 minutes, 15 seconds on Thursday night.

Twenty-seven runners and 13 runners participated. Mike Townsley (20:35) came in second, followed by Marc Guillaume  (20:39), Orson Jones (20:47) and Liv Loh (21:01).

Common Ground Fitness 19, Montague Elks 15 — Brian Ginnity smacked four hits with a home run, two doubles and six RBIs, while David Maston also had four hits (triple, two doubles, four RBIs) to power Common Ground to a victory on Thursday night at Green River Field.

Ed Morley added three hits for Common Ground, as did Jeremy Lipka (double), while Amanda Sanderson totaled two hits, including a double.

The Elks were led by four-hit nights from Quinn Doyle (HR, 3B, two 2Bs) and Scott Matusiewicz (three doubles). Jenn Senn burnt Ginnity with a double in center field to aid the Montague cause.

Bill Noyes and Curt White shot the low gross of 32 in the Timmons-Messer League at Northfield Golf Club on Wednesday.

Norm LaCoy and Steve Lanou took second (37). Jim Garanin and Dennis Fournier carded the low net (25) while Pete Mallet and Bruce Kaeppel took second (27). 

Jim Garanin won closest to the pin on No. 6 (8 feet, 2 inches) while Norm LaCoy won it on No. 7 (14-0). White was the match medalist with a 37.
