Bulletin board: Mike Morin tops field at Knights of Columbus Golf League

Mike Morin posted the top point quota of plus-7 at Wednesday’s Knights of Columbus Golf League at Thomas Memorial in Turners Falls. League leaders are Rod Demers (plus-10) and Phil Cloutier (plus-10).

Three golfers tied for second at plus-5 – Joey Niedbala, Rich Heath and Ray Godwin. Closest to the pin winner was Bob Wondoloski (1 feet, 8 inches) on No. 7. Skins were won by Bob Bourbeau, Ken Adams and Bob Wondoloski.

Tri-County League

Alli Cleveland and Caylen Morse combined for six strikeouts in the circle to help Vernon Black edge the Northfield Cougars, 9-8, in a Tri-County League contest on Wednesday.

At the plate, Morse had three singles with an RBI. Cleveland also had three singles, and Emma Cleveland contributed with a double.

Northfield’s Ryleigh Goodwin pitched three scoreless innings and had five strikeouts, and Evy Lewis also pitched a scoreless inning striking out three batters. At the plate, Maggie Tsipenyuk tripled to right field and singled, driving in three runs, while Avalyn Hall singled, doubled and drove in a run.

In action from Tuesday, Maddie Ross struck out eight to earn the win as Camelot Carpet Cleaners scored a 17-7 victory over Pipione’s Sport Shop.

Kaylin Sevoian had two hits, including a double and a home run for Camelot, while Harper Kingsbury roped a two-run double and Miley Frey also had a hit and two RBIs. Pipione’s Alaina Toothaker, Emerson Russell, Deshiana Davis and Arya Alvarado each had a hit.
