Bulletin Board: Playoffs underway in Franklin Tech Girls Summer Basketball League

The Franklin Tech Girls Summer Basketball League playoffs got underway on Thursday, with second-seeded Mahar earning a 53-19 win over seventh-seeded Athol behind 14 points from Julia Hatch, 13 points from Hayden Comeau, 12 points from Nevaeh Scribner and 11 points from Thea Whitmore. 

Anna Duquette scored 11 points while Abigayle Spooner had six points for the Bears. 

After, Hannah Gilbert scored 14 points, Lili Inman tossed in seven points, Brayleigh Burgh tallied five points and Abi Dobias had three points as third-seeded Franklin Tech knocked off sixth-seeded Hopkins, 29-27. Juliana Echunlob scored seven points while Morgan Augustin and Cailie Edwards both scored two points for the Golden Hawks. 

The final game of the night saw fourth-seeded Pioneer defeat fifth-seeded Greenfield, 48-8, behind 23 points from Addison Harrington, 11 points from Kyler McClelland, 10 points from Emme Calkins and four points from Kiara Gruszkowski. Tayler Bergeron tallied five points while Gloria McDonald had three points for the Green Wave. 

Bowling

Jill Jablonski rolled the women’s high single (106) and triple (268) in the Thursday Mini League at Shelburne Falls Bowling Alley this week. 

Craig Suhre rolled the men’s high single (102) while Nick Brown had the men’s high triple (286). 

Don Maynard Memorial Race

The 30th annual Don Maynard Memorial Race is scheduled for Sept. 21 at 9:30 a.m at the Greenfield Municipal Swimming Area. 

The options are to run the 5 mile road race or the 3 mile walk. T-shirts will be given to the first 50 people who register. Online registration is available at RuSignup.com. The race is looking for volunteers. Questions can be directed to Chuck Adams at 413-522-6688.
