Bulletin Board: Lillia Kachelmeyer powers Greenfield in Summer League hoops

Lillia Kachelmeyer poured in 17 points as Greenfield pulled out a 40-35 triumph over Turners Falls in a Franklin Tech Summer Basketball League contest on Monday. 

Azemina Cecunjanin added 14 points in the win, with Tess Rancourt scoring seven points and Josie Cloutier chipping in two points to the winning total. 

Abi Holloway led the Thunder with eight points, followed by Emily Young with seven, Morgan Dobias, Lily Spera and Holly Myers with six and Reagan Pendriss with two. 

In the second game of the night, Mahar defeated Franklin Tech, 38-32, behind nine points from both Emma Bacigalupo and Kendrah Doane. 

Natalie Belloli had seven points in the win, Naveah Scribner had six points, Jenna Bonenfant had five points and Olivia Patch had two points for the Senators. 

Hannah Gilbert dropped 11 points for the Eagles. Lea Chapman had eight points, Kaitlin Trudeau scored seven points, Kendra Campbell had five points and Ariana Whaley-Britt knocked down a free throw.


Greenfield’s Jake Willis put together a solid day on the links in Vacationland Monday.

Willis finished in a tie for 21st place at a qualifier for the 121st U.S. Amateur Championship held at The Ledges Golf Club in York, Maine.

Willis carded rounds of 73 and 77 to post a two-round total of 6-over-par 150.

Marlborough’s Liam Gill was the medalist with an 8-under 136, while the other qualifying spot went to Canada’s William Duquette (139). The U.S. Amateur is set for Aug. 9-15 at Oakmont Country Club in Verona, Penn.


TJ Thibeault allowed just three hits and struck out 12 across six innings as Greenfield Pierce Brothers Coffee and Crocker Communications beat Brattleboro, 8-3, in a PVYBL Mickey Mantle contest in Brattleboro on Saturday. 

Jackson Campbell had one strikeout in the seventh inning. 

Jackson Petrin had three hits including a double and two RBIs, with Cameron Burnett also going for three hits, knocking in a run and scoring a run himself for Greenfield. 

John Marchefka had a pair of hits and an RBI, Trevor Kuchieski had two hits and two runs, Hugh Cyhowski had a hit and two RBIs and Campbell had a hit and an RBI in the win. Ben Werner, Kolin Broderick and Thibeault each scored a run in the winning effort.

Adult softball

Jeff Gibson had four hits and four RBIs while Yohenny Pimentel had a pair of hits and three RBIs, Jade Cuevas had a trio of hits and RBIs and Danny Hamburg had three hits and two RBIs as the Liberty Tax Sharks beat Riffs North, 26-17, in a Greenfield co-ed softball game on Monday. 

Steph Scott had two hits and three RBIs for Riffs, with Sarah Gilmore adding three hits and an RBI, Brian Werne smacking five hits and two RBIs and Brian Sicard hitting a two-run home run.
