Bulletin Board: Foehl-Hemphill records third hole-in-one

Mace Foehl-Hemphill carded her third hole-in-one of 2019 and eighth of her lifetime on Wednesday. This time it came at Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston, where Foehl-Hemphill snagged an ace on No. 3.

The hole sits 143 yards out, with Foehl-Hemphill using a seven-iron and playing a ProV1x No. 8 golf ball. 

The shot was witnessed by Kevin Connolly and Dan Collen.

Ashfield Community

Sandy Hanks and Tony Warhol finished with 84 points, good for first place in the Tuesday Night Twilighter League at the Ashfield Community Golf course. 

Diane O’Connell and Terry Norwood took second with 77 points and Norma LaBelle and Cyndi Stetson were the third-place finishers with 72 points. 


NMH soccer edged

Aniela Jensen tallied for Northfield Mount Hermon School, but the club dropped a 2-1 decision to Suffield Academy in girls soccer action on Wednesday.

Grace Caso and Isabella Lussier tallied for Suffield.

NMH goalkeeper Maria Echezarretta made eight saves.

AMS soccer wins

Benjamin Kearney scored three goals, helping Athol-Royalston Middle School to a 6-1 victory over Hopkins Academy in a middle school soccer game, Wednesday.

Braydon York tallied twice and Ethan Bacigalupo also scored for Athol, which used all 29 players in the victory.

Deerfield results

It was a dominant effort from the Deerfield Academy field hockey team as the Big Green rolled past NMH, 9-0, in action on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, DA picked up a 3-0 sweep in volleyball over Williston, while the girls soccer team tied Williston, 0-0.

The boys soccer team lost to Berkshire, 2-0, and the boys water polo team fell to Choate, 9-8.

RVAL cross country

The River Valley Athletic League cross country race was hosted by Four Rivers Charter School on Wednesday.

Academy at Charlemont’s Will Draxler bested a field of 68 male runners and posted a time of 19:02 on the hilly 5K course to lead the way. On the girls’ side, in a close finish, Lila White of Dublin School out-sprinted Academy at Charlemont eighth-grader Paloma Hsaio-Shelton to win by three seconds.
