Bulletin Board: Ladies scramble at Thomas Memorial

In an end-of-season scramble at Thomas Memorial Golf and Country Club in Turners Falls on Wednesday, Jenn Murphy, Robin Hartnett, Dorothy Adams and Delia Shean took first place. 

Shean was the winner of closest to the pin on No. 9.

CFC Ladies

In the Crumpin-Fox Club Ladies League, Julie Schonbrun, Lisa Sullivan and Maggie Haigis tied for first, finishing with a plus-2 point quota. 

Sullivan and Marty Stinson were the winners of closest to the pin, Sullivan on No. 3 (29 feet, one inch) and Stinson on No. 9 (seven feet, three inches).

Elks League

The teams of Mike Larabee/Tom Rogers and Pete Kuzmeskus/Jamie Bozek tied for first place with 80 points apiece, topping the final standings at the Greenfield Elks League at the Country Club of Greenfield.

Bob Zaikowski and Greg Call tied for third place with John Cariddi and Stan Maynard, as both teams amassed 79 points. Sharon Rawson and Mike Duclos tied with Gary Noga and Randy Bernard for the next spot with 76½ points. Rawson was closest to the pin in the final day at 17 feet on No. 5. 

Middle schools

AMS soccer

Logen Girard tallied the lone goal for Athol Middle School, which dropped a 4-1 decision to Narragansett on Wednesday in boys soccer.

Benjamin Kearney assisted on Girard’s goal.

MMS soccer

Cassidy Boutell scored three goals with two assists for the Mahar Middle School girls soccer team in a 7-0 win over Greenfield on Wednesday.

Lily Mom-Ugh had a goal with two assists while Anna Dunn found the net twice.

Dakota Cleveland got in on the action with a goal and an assist for the Senators with Elise Wolfe notching an assist.

Junior varsity

Mahar girls soccer beat Drury, 8-0, on Tuesday.

Logan Burke (three goals), Boutell (two goals), Kayley Murphy, Cleveland and Megan Parse all scored for Mahar.

 Tennis

Greenfield tourney

The Greenfield Tennis League Doubles Tournament will be held Sept. 16-18 at the Beacon courts.

This open tournament (you do not have to be in the league to compete) will have matches begin at 5:30 p.m. Players will sign up individually and be drawn for partners the first day of the tournament. Matches will be best-of-3 sets, no ad scoring, with a 10-point tiebreaker if tied after two sets. The cost is $5 (free for league members) and open to high school and older players. The deadline to register is Sept. 15 at 6 p.m., and players are asked to bring one can of unopened tennis balls.

Preps

SBS volleyball falls

Olly Olamiposi put down seven aces and eight kills put the Stoneleigh Burnham School volleyball team fell to MacDuffie, 25-9, 23-25, 25-20, 28-26, Wednesday.

Nora Broady added 15 digs for SBS, and MJ Campos and Aliyah Santana contributed six assists apiece.
