WENDELL — Four months after taking the job, Town Coordinator Alisha Brouillet is stepping down for personal reasons.

Brouillet started in mid-July and her final day will be Thursday, having given the Selectboard two weeks’ notice. Financial Coordinator Douglas Tanner, who is also chair of the town’s Finance Committee, will serve as interim town coordinator until a replacement is found.

Brouillet, who lives in Wendell, declined to elaborate on the reason for her sudden departure, but said she will remain in the area.

“The job was great, the people are great. I enjoy the work and this community, and I’m really sad to have to give this up,” she said. “I’m more than willing to train (my successor) and I will be just a phone call away.”

Before taking the position following the retirement of longtime Town Coordinator Nancy Aldrich, Brouillet served as assistant town clerk.

Tanner, 75, said he offered to work in an interim role because he wants the town to take its time to hire the right person.

“If it’s next week, that’s great. If it’s next month, that’s fine, too,” he said. “I have no intention to be there for any longer than necessary.”

Anyone interested in the town coordinator position should send an email to selectboard@wendellmass.us.

At the Nov. 10 Selectboard meeting, Chair Dan Keller referred to Tanner as a “knight in shining armor” for offering to take the job in the interim. He said an advertisement must be crafted for the position.

Keller and Tanner both said Brouillet has done a fine job and will be missed.
