Athol Police Log, Sept. 7-8, 2021

Tuesday, Sept. 7

9:00 a.m. – Main Street caller reported two vehicles parked in the lot for two weeks. Police unable to make contact with the owners at the time, but will continue to investigate.

11:29 a.m. – Multiple calls of a two-car collision on Conant Road, no injuries. One caller stated there appeared to be some sort of dispute between the involved parties. Honda CRV vehicle came around the corner and struck the Chevrolet vehicle’s left rear corner. Operator of the Honda CRV was given a warning for failure to use care in passing, see report.

11:47 a.m. – Unity Avenue caller stated years ago their military ID as well as their DD214 paperwork was taken from their mother’s address on Unity Avenue. Unknown as to where it went missing to, but needed to document the theft due to current case of identity fraud.

11:53 a.m. – Officers assisted with funeral escort to cemetery.

11:56 a.m. – Highland Avenue caller requested a welfare check on an employee who left a resignation letter on his desk and walked out of work. Subject was contacted and was fine, with family.

12 p.m. – Call reporting animal neglect on Thrower Road. Animal control advised.

1:34 p.m. – New Athol Road caller reported that the vehicle in front of them was operating erratically and headed to Hannaford’s parking lot. Officer pulled the driver over on Main Street after crossing over the yellow line three times. Operator was given a courtesty ride home. Her son was notified of the situation and would look into getting assistance for her.

2:30 p.m. – Caller from Main Street area reported that her boyfriend was following her and hitting her car in the back. Party was nervous and had a child in the car. While talking to the caller, phone was disconnected. Dispatch called the party back. She stated that she was going home, and if she needed further assistance she would call OPD.

4:27 p.m. – Male juvenile in the police station lobby stated he was lost and scared, and didn’t not know his address. Foster father was contacted and juvenile picked up.

4:47 p.m. – 911 disturbance call from Brookside Road business where an employee stated a customer had just pushed the cash register over and was yelling. Answered second 911 from female party invovled. Stated the staff was yelling at her and accusing her of assaulting them. Original subject was unable to complete their gas purchase, but wanted a refund for the gas that they were able to put in their gas tank. Employee advised them that corporate office would need to be called to deal with that issue. Subject’s mother then came into the business upset claiming that employees had been making fun of her daughter. Mother was observed on camera yelling in the employee’s face and then shoved the register back into the employee. Mother stated employee had been laughing at her, too, but video showed employee had remained calm.

5:26 p.m. – Templeton dispatch advised that a motorcycle accident had occured near Lee’s Hot Dog Stand. When PD and EMS arrived, the operator and motorcycle were going. Templeton dispatch requested a welfare check on the operator. APD spoke with the male party who stated that he had been driving the motorcycle. No injuries, and he declined medical assistance.

8:17 p.m. – Lobby walk-in reported her neighbors (Marhsall Street area) were setting off fireworks next to her car a couple days previous and noticed today there was debris/damage to her paint. Several marks on the vehicle were observed. Reporting party stated that she spoke with home owner. And she is getting her car cleaned and will let APD know if there is permanent damage.

Wednesday, Sept. 8

1:55 a.m. – Lobby walk-in where a female party had hit a squirrel while driving home. Squirrel was still alive, so she had brought it into station, (appeared to have broken leg). APD brought the animal to the pound for the night, and will advise ACO when they arrive for their shift.

11:31 a.m. – Minor motor vehicle accident at Brookside Road.

1:18 p.m. – Lobby walk-in reported what appeared to be drug acitivity in the Pine Street area.

3:02 p.m. – Main Street caller reported a vehicle (information given) taking up three handicap spots. APD to follow up with vehicle owner.

6:46 p.m. – Lobby walk-in reported there was almost an altercation where a neighbor had bared a crowbar over aparking dispute. Patrol officer spoke with the other involved party and a witness. Each stated there had been pushing and shoving, but no one was assaulted with a crowbar.

7:11 p.m – Motor vehicle accident at Main Street where vehicle struck a pole. AFD requested National Grid be notified. Vehicle towed by Dale’s.

9:21 p.m. – Tunnel Street business reported a minor who had tried to buy alcohol.
