Athol Police Log: Sept. 24-29

Friday, Sept. 24

4:33 p.m. – 911 call from Chestnut Street where caller reported a male party that was refusing to leave the property, and being very loud and banging on the bar. Party was sent on their way, and advised of court options.

10:55 p.m. – Call from Main Street area of a large group of teenagers running in and out of traffic.

Saturday, Sept. 25

10:39 a.m. – Vandalism of Washington Avenue Stop sign reported, and DPW (Department of Public Works) notified.

12:14 p.m. – Alarm company notification (motion alarm) from Conant Road area. They had made contact with home owner who requested PD because no one should be home. Officer on scene observed open garage. Residence was checked with owner and all was clear.

3:42 p.m. – Caller from Bryant Street area requested an officer at the residence because of ongoing problem of vehicles parking in their yard on the weekends. Operator of the vehicle parked in the reporting party’s yard at the time was notified about the complaint and moved their vehicle.

5:11 p.m. – Police were notified that a shoplifter at a New Athol Road business was being detained at their security office. Police report filed.

7:08 p.m. – Property damaged reported at a Main Street laundromat, window completely shattered. Owner was to review video surveillance footage.

9:02 p.m. – Officer follow up to a complaint earlier in the day from the Ridge Avenue area of a “rat dumping” situation revealed that a male party from that area had released the rats (from his residence) by the Millers River.

Sunday, Sept. 26

10:18 a.m. – Lobby walk-in from the Exchange Street area reported their wallet was stolen from their vehicle the night before.

1:15 p.m. – Lobby walk-in reported that her brother was at her house threatening to kill her. Officers attempted to serve three warrants on the male party half of this incident, but with negative contact. An emergency 209A (Restraining Order) was issued. Subject had been making threats via text to his sister threatening her and her boyfriend.

5:42 p.m. – A caller from the King Road area requested assistance concerning their son and controlled substances. Voluntarily transported to AMH (Athol Memorial Hospital).

6:18 p.m. – South Main Street caller reported that the landlord and a female subject were attempting to have a visitor removed from a tenant’s room, and a male party slammed the door on the reporting party’s wife’s hand. Made contact with visitor who stated he will stay away from the residence.

7:07 p.m. – Lobby walk-in from Pequoig Avenue area reported possible larceny situation by a family member. Officer advised them of their options with having larceny charges brought forward.

Monday, Sept. 27

3:38 a.m. – Three to four 911 calls from Main Street location. No one was responding. Dispatch attempted to call back and the mailbox was not set up. At 3:49 a.m. patrol requested an ambulance for a party who was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Tuesday, Sept. 28

1:58 a.m. – Officer in the Daniel Shays Highway area provided transport to a female party to AMH.

7:03 a.m. – Elizabeth Street and South Athol Road caller reported what appeared to be a bag of drugs at the bus stop, and requested officer assistance to remove it.

Wednesday, Sept. 29

4:20 p.m. – Marble Street 911 call for ambulance for possible overdose. Narcan already administered. Patient was alert and talking upon officers’ arrival. Patient was transported to the hospital by FD due to the Narcan given by the friend.

4:53 p.m. – Multiple 911 calls from the Petersham Road area for a motor vehicle accident roll over, wires down. Party was extricated from the vehicle. National Grid notified about the downed wires. Operator was charged with OUI, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, and speeding.

5:09 p.m. – Unity Avenue caller reported damage to their fence, but the juveniles had already taken off. Requested extra patrols of the area.
