Athol Town Election update

The Annual Town Election will be held on Monday, April 4, at the Athol Town Hall. Polls open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. The following incumbents have signed the blanket nomination paper:

Stephen Raymond, Selectmen; Tammy Duquette and Theodore J. Mallett, III for Athol-Royalston Regional School Committee from Athol; Sharon Brighenti and Margaret Feldman for Library Trustees.

Mitchell R. Grosky is not seeking re-election to the Selectboard and Kenneth A. Vaidulas is not seeking re-election to the Athol-Royalston Regional School Committee from Athol.

Frank M. Visco II has taken out nomination papers for the Athol-Royalston Regional School Committee from Athol and Brittany Newton has taken out nomination papers for Athol-Royalston Regional School Committee from Royalston.

Nomination papers are still available for candidates interested in running for Municipal Office.

The offices to be elected are as follows:

Moderator (1), 1 year

Selectboard (2), 3 years

Athol-Royalston Regional School Committee from Athol (3), 3 years

Athol-Royalston Regional School Committee from Royalston (1), 3 years

Library Trustee (2), 3 years

Athol Housing Authority (1), 5 years

Constable (1), 3 years

Registered voters who are interested in running for office can obtain nomination papers in the Town Clerk’s Office. Office hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, closed. All nomination papers must be returned to the Town Clerk no later than Monday, Feb. 14, by 5 p.m. In order to appear on the ballot, a candidate must obtain 40 signatures of registered voters in Athol for Town Offices and 50 signatures for School Committee.
