Friday, February 16, 2018

ATHOL — The Athol Golden Age Club’s first meeting of 2018 will be held on Monday, Feb. 26, at 1 p.m. at Athol Senior Center, 82 Freedom St. in the Lord Pond Plaza.

Typically, the club holds its first meeting of the year on Presidents Day, but not this year.

Detective Peter Buck of the Athol Police Department will present an informational program on the current drug and opioid crisis in Massachusetts, as well as information on the department’s school-based DARE programs.

Refreshments will be served after the presentation, prior to the business meeting, during which the club’s 2018 calendar of meetings and events will be presented, including four senior trips between June and December.

Copies of the club’s annual financial statement and audit will be distributed, and 2018 dues can be paid in the foyer before the meeting.

The Athol Golden Age Club welcomes all North Quabbin area men and women age 55 and older who would like to meet other seniors from the area, enjoy bus trips around New England, and learn new information through interesting educational programs.
