ATHOL — The Town of Athol and Friends of the Alan E. Rich Environmental Park are hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the installed accessible dock recently installed at the park. The ribbon cutting will happen at 12:30.

The EZ Accessible Floating Dock was installed last August.

Adaptive kayak equipment from the state’s Conservation and Recreation Department’s Universal Access Program will be on display, and there will be live music, kids crafts and light refreshments.

It is not required, but RSVPs would be appreciated for a refreshment count to Eric R. Smith, director of  Athol Planning and Development at: planning@townofathol.org.

Accessible parking will be available at the Alan E. Rich Environmental Park, but all others should park in the Millers River Environmental Center parking lot a block to the east at 100 Main St.

The project was made possible through a DCR Recreational Trails Grant and fundraising partnership with Patronicity, MassDevelopment, private donations, Friends of the Park and the Town of Athol, which is providing site work and installation assistance.

For more information, call Smith 978-575-0301, ext. 300 or email him. Also, call or email Tom Rich of the Friends at 978-413-9289 or tertojmr@comcast.net; or David Small of MRWC at 978-413-1772 or Dave@dhsmall.net.
