Athol Police Log: June 24-28, 2021

Thursday, June 24

12:53 a.m. – Patrol officer was flagged down to report that some children/juveniles were in the roadway moving traffic cones. Gone on arrival.

8:38 a.m. – Multiple callers reported that the Tower Road traffic signals in front of Market Basket and the Route 2 on ramp were out. State DPW notified to bring out portable stop signs. National Grid worked on restoring power.

9:09 a.m. – Patrol officer assisted with traffic control at Main Street and Chestnut Hill Avenue while a tractor trailer attempted to get into Massgrow.

10:01 a.m. – Prospect Street area caller reported that someone across the street was throwing a firecracker out their window every hour. Officer advised the subject of the fireworks law, again.

10:36 a.m. – Traffic enforcement Spring Street, no issues.

11:41 a.m. – School Street caller reported they had seen footage of a vehicle hit their car and then leave. Coordinated with Orange PD to locate offending party, who was spoken to, and took pictures to send to APD.

11:48 a.m. – Petersham Road traffic stop for speeding and unreadable plate.

1:58 p.m. – 911 call from Main Street caller stuck on elevator. Party was out soon after AFD arrival.

2:03 p.m. – Pleasant Street caller reported a possibly intoxicated driver headed up Pleasant Street. Caller stated party was swerving all over the road and driving into oncoming traffic. Officer spoke with driver after observing them pull into Pleasant Street. Officer was told that the two involved parties were in “road rage.” Subject was advised of the complaint.

2:11 p.m. – Officer mediated a disturbance call from Sanders Street/Chestnut Street area of an “out of control” child/juvenile.

Sunday, June 27

9:51 a.m. – Lombard Avenue caller requested officer assistance with ongoing issue with neighbor over property line/fence line, where it appeared to them that their fence had been moved. There is an existing HARPO (Harassment Prevention Order) in effect on this ongoing issue. It was unclear when and who possibly moved the fence. Advised to contact the court and to get the land surveyed.

11:06 a.m. – Fish Street caller reported issues with roommate. Advised of court options regarding eviction.

11:42 a.m. – Patrol officer in Main Street area advised some parties, who were attempting to clean up the property/yard, that they needed to contact the Board of Health of any clean up plans. They were reminded they could not be in the residence.

11:43 a.m. – Caller from a Main Street restaurant reported that an individual who had been “pan handling” in the restaurant was given two free breakfasts. After leaving the individual stood outside yelling that they were racist. Officer checked area, but gone on arrival.

12:41 p.m. – Pequoig Avenue caller requested officer assistance with issues with their upstairs neighbor. Both parties were advised to leave each other alone and of court options. They were advised to pursue issues with common areas through the property manager.

1:06 p.m. – Officer took report on a motor vehicle accident on Main/Grove Street. No personal injuries, vehicles were drivable and all sent on their way.

3:00 p.m. – Lobby walk-in to report an assault. Report taken.

Monday, June 28

7:23 a.m. – Hapgood Street caller reported that they believed that their granddaughter had stolen their vehicle the previous night. After the report had been taken, police were notified that the vehicle was on Central Street and the keys were in the mother’s possession. Patrol officer was able to confirm that the vehicle would be brought home.

8:31 a.m. – Lobby walk-in for a public records request. Form submitted and awaiting approval.
