Athol Police Log: Sept. 6, 2020

Sunday, Sept. 6

10:20 a.m. — Party in the lobby reporting a back door that is open with the lights on, South Main Street. Officers are off at Quabbin Plumbing Supply. Officers located open door in the rear. Upon entry the alarm went off. Cleared the building, no damage or people located. Key holder arrived to check as well. No issues.

10:58 a.m. — OPD requesting APD to assist in a motor vehicle search regarding a previous shoplifting at Walmart, Brookside Road. Assisted OPD.

12:18 p.m. — Party in the lobby requesting PD assistance trying to locate her son whom she believes is at the homeless camps, South Athol Road and Jones Street. Party states that she hasn’t spoken to her son since 8 a.m. this morning. Party stated she made contact with her son.

12:24 p.m. — Harassment, Garnet Hill Road. Party in the lobby requesting to speak with an officer regarding harassment. Officer will be filing criminal harassment charges. 258E denied by Judge, but advised if it gets worse before she goes to court this week, to come back and let Judge know.

12:51 p.m. — Suspicious person, Crescent and Silver Lake streets. Caller reporting a woman is walking around barefoot talking to herself. Officers advised. Spoke to neighbors, identified individual, negative contact.

1:03 p.m. — Breaking and entering, Gage Road. Caller reporting a male party just “broke” into his house. Reporting party stated he saw that male come out of his residence, he knows who the male party is and male party took his house key off his keys and went into his house and camper. Officer out looking for the male party who is on foot. Officer speaking with the male party. Courtesy transport to Orange line. Further investigation required.

1:26 p.m. — Engine 4 responding to the area for the report of smoke in the area, Conant and Riceville roads.

2:22 p.m. — Welfare check, Common Street. Officer checking on a male party sleeping on a bench. Male party enjoying the warm summer day.

2:25 p.m. — Report of burning plastic, Main Street. Per command, odor came from an issue from a stove that occurred earlier today. Assisted with traffic and provided notes on parallel parking fire trucks.

5:23 p.m. — Athol Fire requesting a still alarm for the odor of smoke, South Athol and Riceville roads.

6:02 p.m. — Caller reporting dirt bikes riding in the dirt paths, Partridgeville Road. Officer spoke to the property owner. Owner stated dirt bikes are allowed to operate on his land. Reporting party advised.

6:02 p.m. — 911 call for a male party having a seizure, possible drug use, South Main Street. Group home notified and will be en route to Athol Hospital. Assisted AFD with patient. Transported to hospital.

8:16 p.m. — Caller reporting she heard a gunshot, Brattle Street. Fireworks in the area, unable to locate the source.

8:27 p.m. — Noise complaint, Cottage Street. Report of fireworks. Spoke with party and advised to call it a night. While speaking with people at the residence, fireworks started going off from School Street. Upon arrival, they had already gone inside and would not speak with an officer. Stayed in the area for 10 more minutes, no more fireworks.

8:41 p.m. — Noise complaint, North Orange Road. Multiple callers reporting fireworks. Area was quiet upon arrival.

8:55 p.m. — Caller reporting she hit a dog while driving, Main Street. No owner on scene. Stood by with dog until ACO arrived. Minor injuries, ACO has the dog.

9:05 p.m. — Suspicious person, Daniel Shays Highway. Nurse from QVHC stated for the last four hours a woman has been hanging around out back trying to get a cigarette off of the nurses who are on break. Reporting party stated that she is still there coming out of the bushes/woods with a flashlight. Officer checking the perimeter. Spoke with neighbor who stated it was her friend visiting who had asked for the cigarette. She was gone on arrival.
