Athol Police Log: Sept. 5, 2020

Saturday, Sept. 5

12:11 a.m. — Officer checking a business, Tower Road. Homeless male party in the Dollar Tree parking lot sleeping in his car. Advised to move along.

12:30 a.m. — Caller reporting a bear on his porch, Silver Lake Street. Bear was gone on arrival. Went to warn parties camping in their yard of the bear. All was well and safe.

12:32 a.m. — Caller reporting she is getting suspicious phone calls, Exchange Street. Was advised to call back if she is able to get a return number or if the harassment continues.

2:02 a.m. — Caller reporting her car broke down, Railroad Place. Officer will be en route to give female a ride home.

10:15 a.m. — Employee reporting a male party refusing to wear a mask inside store, Brookside Road. Upon arrival, male party was outside of the store and he voiced his opinion on not wearing a mask. Officers spoke with male party for a few minutes. Officer went inside and got male party his coffee and he went on his way.

10:29 a.m. — 911 call for a 72-year-old female with stomach pain, Earl Drive.

10:39 a.m. — Caller reporting a red station wagon speeding through the parking lot multiple times almost hitting people, Silver Lake Beach.

10:49 a.m. — Caller stating she wants to know if she is able to go to residence to retrieve her daughter’s belongings, Central Street. She is unable to get ahold of the resident of home and wants to make sure all belongings are together/accounted for.

10:58 a.m. — Caller reporting her boyfriend’s vehicle was hit in the apartment building’s parking lot, Main Street.

12:58 p.m. — Caller reporting a motor vehicle accident, Main Street and Petersham Road. Motorcycle crashed into the back of truck. State Police trooper contacted and en route for assistance.

1:06 p.m. — Walk-in to lobby to report downed wires on side of roadway, Anzio Road. Verizon contacted.

2:15 p.m. — Caller reporting his 10-year-old son was jumped on and snapped at by his neighbor’s two dogs that were unleashed and ran into the roadway while they were riding bikes, Old Keene Road. Father refused ambulance for son. Multiple complaints on female party.

2:23 p.m. — Caller reporting her son is being asked for money via Facebook, Venmo, and PayPal and harassed by parties in Athol, McGregor Street.

2:30 p.m. — Caller reporting she needs her cat transported to a vet and she is unable to do so herself, Main Street. Officer spoke with the reporting party.

3:05 p.m. — Engine 4 responding for a past porch fire, Union Street. Under control and investigating.

3:20 p.m. — Follow-up investigation, Exchange Street. Officer spoke with party who has information on the stolen trailer’s whereabouts.

3:42 p.m. — Alarm company calling in residential burglar alarm, Templeton Road. Alarm company called back requesting to cancel, false alarm.

4:06 p.m. — Caller reporting female has a pot plant out back that is not secure, Pequoig Avenue. She is currently moving out. Marijuana was removed from back yard. Bud was not secure.

4:15 p.m. — Caller reporting there are parties out in the back that are riding dirt bikes, Partridgeville Road. Per officer, checked the area and there are no dirt bikes, gone on arrival.

4:16 p.m. — 911 caller reporting fire alarm detector going off, Freedom Street. Faulty detector.

5:04 p.m. — 911 call for a female party not feeling well, Hapgood Street. Assisted AFD. Transported to hospital.

6:02 p.m. — Life Star requesting FD and PD to secure the are while Life Star lands, Main Street. Life Star diverted to Orange.

6:39 p.m. — Caller reporting possible drug activity, Silver Lake Street.

7:01 p.m. — Officer in the area searching for some items, Silver Lake Park. Per officer, items have been retrieved and will be heading up to the address that the license plate came back to.

7:09 p.m. — Caller reporting possible overdose, New Athol Road. Female sitting in the car with her mouth open. Made contact with female party in vehicle who was resting while waiting to pick her daughter up from work.

7:38 p.m. — Caller requesting to speak to an officer regarding custody issue, Columbian Avenue. Probate issue, advised of options.

7:44 p.m. — Caller reporting that a teenager ran out of the house screaming and crying, Grove Street. Reporting party stated that the mother came out of the house and went after her child that was running up the street. Spoke with parties involved, everyone is back home and safe. Advised to call if there is an issue.

8:11 p.m. — Caller requesting to speak to an officer, Main Street. Officers spoke with both parties who stated they were having a verbal argument.

8:26 p.m. — Engine 4 reporting they will be responding for an outdoor fire, Main Street.

9:02 p.m. — Caller reporting fireworks going off, Spring and Main streets. Nothing found.

9:44 p.m. — Caller reporting fireworks, Estabrook and Main streets. Unfounded.

10:21 p.m. — Caller reporting his brother is intoxicated and unwanted at home, Barrett Avenue. Male party picked up by his father.
