Athol Police Log: June 5-10, 2022

Sunday, June 5

8:39 a.m. – Police station lobby walk-in reported his daughter had dropped her wallet at Cumberland Farms Friday night and the store video footage shows someone picked it up and put it in their pocket. Located party with wallet who returned said wallet.

12:24 p.m. – Walnut Street caller reported her neighbors dumped a bike in her yard over the weekend. Item was picked up. Police were unable to make contact with anyone at house on Main Street.

2:20 p.m. – Party in the station lobby reported there was someone living behind the old Maroni building. Stated there was a mattress and a tarp. Police advised the party that Officers were aware of them.

2:40 p.m. – Party from Templeton Road area in station lobby to report suspicious activity incident. A male party in a personal vehicle, no uniform or ID, identified himself as a delivery driver and had attempted to leave a bag with three cylindrical items on her porch. Subject left and then returned several minutes later and reattempted to drop it off. Argued further and left.

6:53 p.m. – Tower Road callers reported a male party had passed out along the side of the road near Wendy’s. Unknown status. Party was brought to AMH without issue.

7:58 p.m. – Police assistance was requested at Brookside Road to investigate a suspicious person call regarding two male parties possibly intoxicated. Necessary action taken.

8:00 p.m. – Caller reported that their Everett Avenue neighbor was giving them a hard time. Requested officers come to the residence.

11:44 p.m. – Intoxicated person in lobby to request protective custody.

Monday June 6

12:43 a.m. – Cottage Street caller requested assistance with removing son from the residence because they were arguing and situation was escalating. Police mediated the situation and both parties calmed down and were separated for the night. Advised that if any further issues were to arise to contact the station.

Tuesday, June 7

12:07 a.m. – Report from Walnut Street of a man lying on the sidewalk. Party sent on their way.

1:16 a.m. – Chestnut Hill reporting parties stated they know the male party involved was on the property and there is a 209A against him and he spilled oil on top of the reporting party’s vehicle.

11:27 a.m. – Report from Paige Street of suspicious activity the previous evening. Noise complaints around 10 p.m. and broken glass that was in the street this morning that has since been picked up. Ongoing issue, so would like extra patrols of neighborhood during evening hours.

1:36 p.m. – Glendale Avenue caller reported the belief that neighbors are dealing with illegal substances. Stated there are also many needles around their mailbox.

Wednesday, June 8

12:01 a.m. – New Sherborn Road and Conant Road caller reported roadway completely blocked by fallen tree. Police assisted in contacting DPW and tree was removed.

Thursday, June 9

12:08 to 2:52 a.m. – All around town business/building security checks. No issues found.

7:28 a.m. – Garfield Road caller requested assistance in handling situation regarding her mother, who has dementia, and a woman who is stealing her money and transferring her assets into her name.

7:21 p.m. – Ridge Road caller requested assistance with an intoxicated male party that needed to be removed from the residence. Stated that the male was out of control and being irate. Subject was transported to Athol Hospital with numerous bleeding cuts and scrapes on his body that were consistent with falling.

8:42 p.m. – Washington Avenue caller reported a female screaming and a male party walking around with a backpack. Reporting party called back saying they heard what sounded like a gunshot. Necessary action taken by Police.

10 p.m. – Police mediated a lockout situation at Pine Street. Caller reported her roommate locked her out of their apartment. Police spoke to both parties who came to an agreement.

Friday, June 10

12:42 a.m. – Police assistance requested at Ridge Road where reporting party stated they could hear individuals outside their residence. Police investigated and could not locate anyone on foot in the area. Officers checked the area and surrounding roads and continued to BOLO.

8:42 a.m. – Main Street traffic stop for unregistered vehicle and use of an electronic device. Vehicle towed from scene.

10:29 to 11:35 a.m. – Daniel Shays Highway and Main Street areas, multiple traffic stops for speeding and following too close.

11:52 a.m. – Ridge Avenue complaint of a suspicious person, description provided, who was asking people for money, looking in vehicles. Last seen walking behind Athol Savings Bank. Officers located the individual by the Steele Pub and sent them on their way.
