Athol Police Log: July 16-19, 2022

Saturday, July 16

8:42 a.m. – South Street caller requested Police assistance to remove an unwanted male at their house. Male was gone on arrival, but later went to station to discuss incident. Involved parties were advised of court options.

2:59 p.m. – Patrol Officer investigated a male party slumped over the wall at the Veterans Park at Main And Exchange Street. Male party was napping and was sent on his way.

3:31 p.m. – Park Avenue caller reported he had fraud charges on his PayPal account. He was advised to call PayPal and contact his bank.

4:17 p.m. – Pleasant Street caller was looking to speak to an Officer to report suspicious activity regarding juveniles going in and out of their neighbor’s residence. Police assisted the reporting party and answered their questions regarding the situation. They were also advised that they may want to contact the courts regarding court options.

9:19 p.m. – Old Keene Road caller reported large fireworks kept getting set off at neighbor’s house.

Sunday, July 17

12:42 p.m. – Numerous 911 calls from Main and Chestnut streets reported a male party with a baby in a carriage that was struck by a vehicle. Parties were giving different locations — some were saying by CVS Pharmacy and others saying by the Petco station. Transported to hospital.

1:08 p.m. – 911 calls from Chestnut Street area reported that there appeared to be a van stuck on the side of the road and it seems to have caught some leaves on fire. Officer at scene advised that it was a box truck that appeared to be stuck. Also reported that the “small brush fire” had been put out. Towing service pulled vehicle out and it was able to drive away.

11:14 p.m. – Freedom Street caller reported several people banging on a neighboring door for the past 45 minutes. Upon arrival nobody was around the property. Police watched the property for a short period, and all appeared quiet, but did check on the property throughout the night.

Monday, July 18

12:35 a.m. – Patrol Officer investigated two vehicles behind Hobby Lobby.

1:32 a.m. – Petersham Road caller reported that she was trying to get some belongings from a residence and her ex was causing a problem.

3:44 a.m. – Main Street caller reported a disturbance over property that had just taken place between his sister and her ex. Police provided courtesy transport.

Tuesday, July 19

7:37 a.m. – 911 caller from Crescent Street area stated there was a female party on the bridge and it looked like she was trying to jump off. Caller stated she had climbed up on the bridge, and there was a male party trying to hold her back. Reporting party then stated both parties had started walking towards Fish Street. Involved parties were located on Lake Street. Officers spoke with both parties and they were sent on their way.

8:21 a.m. – Sanders Street caller reported there was an alarm going off and he believed it was a burglar alarm and not a fire alarm. Also stated there was a flashing light inside as well. Police investigated the scene and reported it was a fire alarm. Requested Fire Department and key holder was contacted.

11:07 a.m. – Caller from Main Street area reported repeated online harassment that had been occurring. Advised of no trespass options and HPO (Harassment Protection Order) options.

1:32 p.m. – Station lobby walk-in reported ongoing harassment from their neighbor.
