Athol Police Log: Feb. 3-5, 2021

Wednesday, Feb. 3

1:05 a.m. — Motor vehicle stop, School and Prospect streets. Operator issued citation.

1:25 a.m. — Caller reporting an unwanted male party that refuses to leave store, Main Street. Party has been making a coffee for over an hour. Employee called back stating same male party hanging around outside of store, making her uncomfortable. Officers located subject and he was sent on his way.

2:30 a.m. — 911 caller stating he is being held in a basement or something by voices but he is unsure of who and he does not know his whereabouts, Main Street. Male party having an issue with his mental health. Male party was transported to hospital for an evaluation.

8:39 a.m. — Caller reporting neighbor threatened his son because his dog was barking, Freedom Street. Spoke with reporting party and son regarding neighbor dispute over their dogs barking. Unable to make contact with other party involved.

8:58 a.m. — Party in lobby stating he backed into a telephone pole at the intersection, Estabrook and Mechanic streets. Information gathered and photo taken. Did not think there was much damage until trying to open the tailgate today. Has already contacted insurance. Just wanted it documented.

10:01 a.m. — AFD is en route to investigate a broken water pipe, Exchange Street. C2 and the building inspector are en route.

10:07 a.m. — Subject into the station to speak to an officer about an issue with a neighbor, South Main Street. Subject was upset after receiving a no trespass order.

11:23 a.m. — Report of a single car motor vehicle crash into a snow bank, White Pond Road. Operator hit slush on the roadway and went off the road down a small embankment. No damage to vehicle, negative injuries. Minor property damage (lawn). Property owners were advised and provided operator information. Vehicle was towed up the embankment by a Good Samaritan.

12:04 p.m. — Caller reporting a vehicle backed up into her vehicle, South Main Street. No injuries reported.

1:46 p.m. — Caller reporting a vehicle is off the road in a snowbank, Pleasant Street. Officer requesting DPW for salting the road. Vehicle removed by Dale’s, no damage.

4:47 p.m. — Female calling to speak to an officer about someone she has a 209A against not picking up their belongings, Hampstead Place.

6:17 p.m. — Party calling about barking dogs, Hapgood and Harugari streets. ACO and officer off on Hapgood for barking dogs.

8:18 p.m. — Caller reporting his street has no power, Chestnut Street. Grid is on scene reporting they had to work on a transformer.

8:34 p.m. — Caller reporting three vehicles parked on the side of the road and another vehicle is blocking the driveway, South Athol Road. Three vehicles parked on the side of the road, not blocking traffic/driveway.

9:43 p.m. — 911 caller requesting an ambulance because he’s having hallucinations, Main Street. Spoke to a staff member at Open Sky while on the phone with him who stated he was all set and in her care. If they need assistance, they are going to call CSO.

Thursday, Feb. 4

8:11 a.m. — Officer attempting to check welfare, Ridge Road.

8:51 a.m. — Male party is looking to speak with an officer regarding issues with his neighbor and his mailbox, South Main Street.

11:09 a.m. — Officer on scene with a large amount of white smoke coming from behind a residence, Gage Road. Per officer, the homeowner has a burning permit but it is a large outside fire.

12:12 p.m. — Caller reporting graffiti, Main Street. Photographed spray paint damage on the west side of the building.

1:19 p.m. — Anonymous caller reporting an elderly male party hitchhiking in the area, Tower Road. Officer off with male party. While speaking with male party, his mother arrived to pick him up. He was trying to get home to Phillipston from Athol Hospital. No issue.

2:01 p.m. — Caller looking to speak with an officer regarding a vehicle not being returned, Froman Street. Arrangements are for tomorrow and owner was wondering if keys can brought to the station. Spoke with possessor who will attempt to remove all property he owns from the truck by tonight and bring keys to station.

2:04 p.m. — Report of a motor vehicle accident in a private driveway, Prospect and School streets.

2:32 p.m. — Caller reporting neighbor throwing snow on property, Main Street.

2:56 p.m. — Caller reporting that there is a hawk with one wing torn off on her front porch, Euclid Street. ACO called back stating the reporting party got ahold of an animal recovery hospital out of Amherst and they will be coming to get the hawk.

3:15 p.m. — Caller requesting to speak with an officer regarding a male party taking parts off of his truck, Froman Street. Officer advised subject that the matter would need to be dealt with when he comes to retrieve the truck. Subject was advised that it is a civil matter between the two parties.

3:55 p.m. — Caller reporting injured turkey, Brooks Road. ACO en route.

5:11 p.m. — 911 caller reporting a motor vehicle accident, Main Street.

6:35 p.m. — Caller reporting owner of the vehicle locked him out of the app and keeps setting the alarm off, Froman Street. Subject advised of options. Vehicle will be going to other subject tomorrow.

9:23 p.m. — Caller reporting a white Jeep Renegade driving erratically at a high rate of speed headed towards Athol near Hannaford, Sough Main Street and Brookside Road. Negative contact.

Friday, Feb. 5

12:11 a.m. — 911 call for a medical emergency, Daniel Shays Highway. AFD handled the call.

3:57 a.m. — Motor vehicle stop, Main Street. Officer out with vehicle, exhaust dragging on street and sparking while driving. Officer states air bag deployment and damage to vehicle. Dale’s has vehicle. Officers located tire marks and damage over town line. Officer contacted Phillipston PD for invest on damage in their town. Incident is under investigation by both towns.

8:01 a.m. — Housing Authority called to let police know that they are towing a vehicle, Laurel Street.

8:13 a.m. — Male subject in the lobby to speak with an officer regarding his work truck, Exchange Street. Spoke with subject and observed truck and trailer at his residence which he stated he has no problem turning over to the owner.

8:49 a.m. — Report of a motor vehicle accident, Partridgeville Road. DPW contacted. Dale’s on scene.

9:24 a.m. — Male subject in the lobby to report his neighbor just threatened him, South Main Street. Reporting party states as neighbor was pulling into his driveway and he was outside he stated to him, “You have an enemy now and I’m coming after you.”

9:29 a.m. — Caller would like to speak to an officer about verifying an odometer for court purposes, Green Street.

10:04 a.m. — 911 caller reporting a motor vehicle accident, White Pond Road. Officer requested DPW. Officer requesting FD for female party involved. Jim’s on scene for tow.

12:50 p.m. — Officer off with a suspicious vehicle, Pleasant Street. Subject was on a tablet checking on an employee.

1:07 p.m. — Postmaster reporting two male parties in an altercation, Main Street. One male party threatened staff. Both parties are gone. Ongoing issue over property lines and the location of the mailbox.

2:05 p.m. — Possible drug activity, Main Street. Under investigation.

3:03 p.m. — 911 caller reporting someone went inside abandoned building and is smashing things, Cottage Street. No issues, made contact with neighbor who had key to residence. Kids were moving stuff around inside.

3:06 p.m. — DCF requesting police for assistance for going into a residence, Humphrey Place. Assisted DCF.

3:11 p.m. — LifeLine calling in an activation, no response from the party, West Royalston Road. Per Ambulance 2, accidental.

3:28 p.m. — Caller reporting her vehicle was hit in the parking lot, South Main Street. Rear right bumper scratched and bumper pulled off body of car.

4:28 p.m. — Caller requesting to speak with an officer regarding drug activity, Main Street. Unable to locate parties inside or out.

4:42 p.m. — Party in lobby requesting to speak with an officer regarding a traffic incident that happened earlier today, Main Street. Spoke with party about traffic complaint that happened around 1 p.m. Vehicle swerved around him in traffic, unable to get a plate. Advised to call next time when or if an incident happens.

5:35 p.m. — Multiple 911 calls regarding a motor vehicle accident at the intersection, South Main Street and Brookside Road. No injuries. Dale’s has vehicle.

5:53 p.m. — Caller reporting three teenagers breaking bottles in the alleyway, Main Street. No glass or juveniles in the area.

6:25 p.m. — Party in the lobby to report harassment, Froman Street. Officer attempted to make contact with subject in New Jersey leaving the harassing messages. No answer, message left.

6:42 p.m. — Motor vehicle parked on the side of the road with rear end in traffic, Main Street. Unable to locate owner in any shops or restaurants in the area.
