ATHOL — Pitchers Landyn Barber, Quinn Geary, Ian Haupt and Austin Holmes combined for 15 strikeouts, helping the Quabbin Area Little League All-Stars to an 8-0 win over the Chuck Stone All-Stars at James H. Salevan Field on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams are in the process of round-robin play to determine the top two seeds for the District 3 playoffs.

Barber picked up the win for Quabbin, throwing two and one-third innings with six strikeouts. He gave up only one hit in his outing, when Chuck Stone’s Connor Cox singled in the top of the second inning.

Alex Blunk pitched into the fifth inning for Chuck Stone with two strikeouts, and added two hits at the plate.

Beckham Chouinard had three hits, including a double, for Quabbin.

Chouinard, Geary and Haupt all scored runs in the bottom of the first to give Quabbin a 3-0 lead.

Quabbin loaded the bases in the bottom of the second, but Blunk pitched his way out of the jam and escaped the inning without giving up a run. Blunk got Geary and Holmes to ground out to end the threat.

Jaxon Haggett bunted for a single in the top of the third but was left at third base. Haggett made a running catch in left field in the bottom of the fourth.

Quabbin’s Zeke Santoro led of the bottom of the fourth with a long single before Chouinard’s double put runners at second and third. Adam Adams got a run home when a grounder was misplayed to make the score 4-0. Holmes added an RBI sacrifice fly before Adams stole home to give Quabbin a 6-0 lead.

Chuck Stone’s Dakota Choquette singled in the fifth but could not get around to score. Evan Quigley stole a bag in the fifth for Chuck Stone.

Aiden LaPointe and Ada Faulha singled for Quabbin in the bottom of the fifth. Two more runs scored in the inning on another grounder by Adams.

A huge play defensively in center field helped Chuck Stone get out of the inning. A hard hit ball by Santoro had home run distance, but Chuck Stone center fielder Alex Lavigne tracked it down and reached into the greenery over the fence to keep the ball in the park for an out.

Chuck Stone hosts North Leominster back at James H. Salevan Field tonight at 5:30 p.m.
