ATHOL — Athol Credit Union is offering cash grants to eligible, local, first-time homebuyers through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston Equity Builder Program. The grants are provided to assist with down payments, closing costs, homebuyer counseling and property rehabilitation for eligible individuals purchasing their first home.

The EBP program grants up to $11,000 to eligible buyers on a first-come, first-served basis. To qualify, eligible buyers must have household incomes at or below 80 percent of the area median income. In addition to the grant funds, ACU is also offering the lowest fixed rates in the area, as well as reduced closing costs for first-time home buyers.

ACU will be holding a First-Time Homebuyer seminar at its Community Development Center, 527 Main St. in Athol on Thursday, March 1, at 6 p.m. Those interested can sign up to attend on ACU’s Facebook page or by calling 978-249- 3527.
