Petersham Art Center is celebrating spring with several upcoming classes. PAC is a non-profit center for showcasing creative art and craft of the North Quabbin region, located in Petersham, at 8 North St. Art classes, exhibits and local artisan gifts are offered in PAC’s cottage, just off Route 32.

Sue Morello of Sheldon Farm Baskets will be back Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m. until noon with one of her ever-popular basket-making classes. She will lead students in making a beautiful flower-gathering basket, for gathering and displaying springtime blooms. Each participant will bring home their own heirloom basket. Morello is an artisanal basket maker, with her own shop in Barre, and has demonstrated at Old Sturbridge Village and other venues.

Petersham Art Center also has some pending classes, with schedules in process. One class will be an opportunity to decorate yourself for spring, making festive flower garland headdresses. This popular class delights its participants with fragrance and fun.

In June, Pastor Geoff Smith of Petersham will be offering photography classes for children, ages 8-12, as well as a class for teens to adults, to spark creative photo adventures. These upcoming classes will be finalized soon.

Call Petersham Art Center to register, or to get more information, at 978-724-3415, or email: ceaton@massaudubon.org. There is a fee for each class. Annual memberships are available to support PAC as well. Members enjoy a benefit discount on classes. PAC is open for exhibits and shopping each weekend, noon to 4 p.m.
