ATHOL — St. John’s Episcopal Church, 15 Park St., will hold their  51st annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 7,  from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Torrey Hall.

Preparations are in full swing and parishioners have been working very hard in anticipation of this fundraising event.

The Bazaar will once again feature hand-decorated fresh wreaths and swags. There will be two sizes of wreaths to choose from suitable for homes and businesses.

Homemade fudge, candy, breads, cakes, brownies, pies, beans, coleslaw, and other treats will be offered at the bake table. Canadian pork pies known as tourtieres will be available on Bazaar day. Preorders will be accepted at 978-575-1260.

Cookies by the pound is becoming more popular every year. The craft and knit table will have an assortment of hats, mittens, scarves, blankets, ornaments, aprons, handcrafted Christmas décor, and teacher gift ideas.

The Candy Cane Café will have clam chowder, soup, hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches, hot and cold beverages, and dessert. The snack bar will be open all day.

The chance table has many items to be raffled, including a 40-inch smart flat screen tv, a lottery tree that has $50 in scratch tickets and $50 in cash, a food basket with all the makings of Christmas dinner including a gift card, Del’s famous fruit cake, and a few other items. Drawing starts promptly at 2 p.m.

A center table will have many theme baskets and a jewelry table will have a large selection including vintage and costume jewelry.

The Christmas Room will once again be downstairs and will offer toys, gifts, Christmas decorations, lights, trees. 

Santa will be in the Christmas room in the morning and making rounds throughout the bazaar festivities. Santa will listen to the Christmas wishes of children and the young at heart and give out candy canes. Shoppers are welcome to take photos with Santa.

The thrift shop will be extending their hours on Bazaar day. The shop is open year round on Thursdays and Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon.

The straw game is something new added to the Bazaar. Live music will be offered throughout the day. Sign up for free door prizes in Torrey Hall and the thrift shop.
