Wednesday, Oct. 9

9-11 a.m. — Public flu clinic, sponsored by Walgreens Pharmacy and the Athol Council on Aging, at the Athol Senior Center, for persons age 50 and older. Pre-registration is required by calling COA at 978-249-8986. Bring all health cards to the clinic.

10:15-11 a.m. — Preschool Story Time at the Athol Public Library, large program room. Read, move, socialize and sing. No registration required.

11 a.m. to noon — Blood pressure clinic, Athol Senior Center, 82 Freedom St., Athol.

2-4 p.m. — Knit-Wits. Join Athol Public Library volunteer Jean White for the weekly drop-in meeting. Materials provided, or bring your own to knit, crochet, needle work or other projects. In the conference room. Info: 978-249-9515.

3:30-4:30 p.m — Lego Club: For kids ages 5 to 12. Adults may build with their children. Wheeler Memorial Library, 49 East Main St,, Orange, 978-544-2495.

5-7 p.m. — The Athol Public Library will welcome local artist Donna Peck, with a reception in the Athol Public Library conference room. Her works are on view through Oct. 31. Free and open to the public. For information call 978-249-9515.

6:30-8 p.m. — Spirit Communication, with Jeff Belanger, at the Woods Memorial Library, Barre. Free and open to the public. From the Fox sisters in the earliest days of the Spiritualist movement, to devices such as the Ouija Board and dowsing rods. Explore the history, see devices and hear evidence. 6:30-8:30 p.m. — Creative Crafting — a series of monthly workshops for adults. Join Robin Brz. and Emily for an evening of fun and crafty adventure at the Athol Public Library. The class will make No-sew Sock Owls. All materials and step-by-step instructions provided. Free and open to the public. Funded by the Friends of the Athol Public Library. Thursday, Oct. 10

3:30-5 p.m. — Chess Club at the Athol Public Library; learn the game or brush up on your skills. With David Price. For students in grades 4 through 10. Call the library at 978-249-9515 to sign up or for more information.

7 p.m. — “No Irish Need Apply” program, hosted by the Athol Historical Society, 1307 Main St., Athol. Christopher Daley, historian and author, will present a 90-minute slide lecture. No charge; donations accepted.

Friday, Oct. 11

7:30 a.m. — Early Bird Birding with Jeff Johnstone. These trips are a great chance to for birders of all skill levels to learn about migrating birds and the best local hot spots to observe the fall migration. Great for beginning birder. Meet Jeff at the Millers River Environmental Center, 100 Main St., Athol.

9:30-Noon — Story Walk® sponsored by Valuing Our Children. Sign boards with pages from books on them are set up along Millers River Park for participants to read at their own pace. Afterward, participants can do a fun activity in the Children’s Library. No registration. All ages can participate.
